We have just returned from WDW and had the horrible experience of traveling to the Resort using Mears Transportation.
Has anyone heard of another Shuttle company that we can use in the future??

They have 1 person working at the Airport handling several hundred folks in line trying to get on a shuttle bus that was already paid for online in the first place!!! They have you stand in line to get tickets when there is already a barcode and reservations in the system anyway. This was totally ridiculous!!

We wasted over an hour in line, then had to wait another 30 minutes before boarding the bus. This is unacceptable and with all the travelling I've done; have never run into this.

No one was happy with the service and I even begged someone outside to go and help the poor man with only a look like I was stupid or something.

Is this how it is all the time?? Recommendations for a different shuttle service anyone??

I've never been to WDW. I will be there on February 17th with my family (6 of us). I was told be my TA to use Mears from MCO to DAKL. However, after some serious amount of time online sourcing out ground transportation, I've found that a limousine service would be a more suitable option. You're paying almost identical for a limo that you would for a shuttle service. Shuttle service you're paying on a per person basis and you have to stop at everyone else's resort before you hit yours, were as a limo you're paying a per vehicle basis and they take to your door.....We've booked Southern Elegance Limousine to pick us up at MCO & transport us to DAKL.....

If a limo does not suit your needs, you can jsut take a taxi which again would be cheapest af all.....

Hope this helps......

Mears is not usually like you descrive although it can be that way when lots of people or an entire group together from one plane hits them.

Once, based on a hint I think from this board, I saw a good sized crowd at the main Mears booth but there was another booth several hundred feet up the sidewalk with hardly anybody at it which I walked to and boarded a van there with little hassle. This still doesn't get around the problem of waiting at lots of red lights on the way to weaving through lots of other resort driveways before getting to yours.

Often you can find a towncar service after you arrive, negotiate the fare, and go, although you have to look.

Taxis are also easy to find, but for a trip this length I don[t recommend metered taxis whose rates go up more when stuck in traffic nor do I ever recommend taxis that don't look like taxis and which might be not regulated and can surprise you with a high fare. Obtain or negotiate a flat fare before choosing a mode of transportation.

I suppose in the situation described, most people tipped according to the quality of the overall experience, no?

On our first trip, we used the Mears cattle car shuttle and waited about an hour and a half to load onto the bus, and then another hour to get to our resort. Then on returning to MCO they forgot us, even after confirming with them the day before like they requested. Never again!! Since then, we've always used Tiffany Towncar Services. They'll wait for you at baggage pickup, pull up a towncar, van, or limo and wisk you off to your resort, while the rest of the "bus people" watch, wish and remember to do that next time! We've never been disappointed with any of their services. I suggest Tiffany at http://www.tiffanytowncars.com/ You can make res's right on line. Have fun!

We had a similar experience on our first trip to WDW. We waited 45 minutes for the shuttle. The man calling out the names of the hotels for each bus had such a heavy spanish accent we couldn't understand him. Ever since then we have used HappyLimo.com. I make a reservation online before we go. They are waiting at the airport when we arrive. We have even rented strollers from them. The price is the same for the four us as it to use Mears.
