Ok, I searched and couldn't find a thread that answered this:confused3. Anyone know if you buy the rt on Mears to US, can you upgrade the return portion to take you to the airport instead the following day??? Thanks

I am afraid I don't understand the part of your question regarding Auckland, New Zealand (AKL) and the part about US. Please clarify.

I doubt it. You are paying to go to US/IoA. Are you planning on staying at US/IoA and then leaving from there to get to MCO, rather than returning to AKL? If so, be aware that the Mears shuttle to US/IoA won't allow you to bring any luggage on the bus.

Seriously??? AKL= Animal Kingdom Lodge.

Okay, it SOUNDS like what the OP wants to do is book the Mears shuttle round trip from AKL to US/IOA one day, but then not use the return portion, and instead upgrade it the next day to go from Universal to MCO.

Doesn't sound like it would work. They won't be prepared or have room for the luggage - and it's as likely that outbound trip will be in a van as a bus.

I would just be up front with them - call and explain what you want to do (move from WDW to USF, then go to the airport the next day) and get a price quote. It may be cheaper to take a cab between the two resorts, then Mears shuttle to the airport, depending on the number of people.

And the Auckland airport :)

On another board which many DIS-sers also frequent, it sounds like they were asking if they could take Mears from their arrival airport in the US from Auckland.

Sorry, we get confused :)

In all seriousness though...who would want to take the Mears shuttle while in Auckland??? Even if traveling to the US. I have never seen AKL mistaken for anything here....pretty much everyone realizes what it stands for. But, if I'm headed 'down under', I'll know whereof I speak!!

Sorry for the confusion. Yes, I meant Animal Kingdom Lodge (AKL). We want to go to Univ. Studios, and it would work best if we went from AKL to US, checked in our stuff at the hotel, then went to the park. The next day we would fly home, but I didn't know you couldn't take luggage on the shuttle - what about a back pack or carry on bag that could go underneath our feet?

I'm just trying to figure out the most economical way to do this. Thanks.

Underneath your feet isn't safe if it's a van. There's no storage. They only expect to transport people.

Again, call Mears and ask them. Depending on the number of people, a taxi to Universal and the shuttle to the airport might be your best option.

There's always the Lynx bus. This public transportation system would require you to take a taxi to either Downtown Disney or the TTC (no luggage on the WDW buses, either), but then for $2 exact change per passenger and a transfer and some walking and some time (one-two hours), you could get to Universal Studios' parking garage hub, and from there walk to Royal Pacific or walk to a dock and take the boat.

You can bring a backpack...that's what we did. Yes, there is storage for larger stuff if they use the buses. We had people stowing strollers. But, when my friend and I spent the night at US/IoA we asked if we could use the shuttle on two consecutive days...Mears told us yes, but no luggage would be allowed.
Perhaps you might try a car service...ride to US/IoA and then to MCO the next day.

The cheapest way (1 or 2 passengers) is probably to take DME from AKL to MCO (with luggage under the bus) then take a Mears shuttle to your hotel by Universal. Mears shuttle back to MCO after your trip.Academic answer. Waste too much time.

Price a car service from AKL-Universal-MCO. Price a taxi from AKL to Universal then Mears to MCO.

4, maybe 3, people in your group a taxi or car service might actually be cheaper then Mears.
