Mears and tipping

Well, in less than a week, I will be in WDW. This is a 'solo' trip for me-solo flight, meeting family for the ½ Marathon. I have booked my Mears shuttle (yeah, I know. . . .town Car is so much better, but going solo, Mears makes more sense. ) I will have 1 small rolling suitcase (hand luggage--nothing checked). So, what is the protocol for tipping the Mears driver? And does it make a difference if it is the van (somewhat personal) or the bus? I guess that I'll need to know this for my home to airport driver, too. Thanks for the information!

I would give him $2.00 since you only have 1 small bag. Is you home to airport driver a multiple stop or just you? If multiple stop, I would figure 15% roundtrip, if just you 20% (both depend on how you feel the service was. if it was above average, maybe increase it).

If the driver doesn't handle my bag at all, no tip. I often fly back and forth between NJ and FL, and because we have houses in both places I have clothes, toiletries, etc. in both places. So most of the time all I have is my pocketbook and a tote with the laptop, makeup, and a book. In this case I don't tip the shuttle driver for the airport parking place, unless he's particularly courteous.

Tip the Mears driver according to how satisfied you were, on an absolute (not circumstantial) scale.

Mandatory stowing and retrieving of your bag, and beating you to your bag, are not activities that earn a tip.
