Good morning everyone

Well I'm ready for another day at Hallmark.

Man did we have a storm and a half yesterday! It only went through a small section of town (of course it was at work and not at home because I was at work) but I have never seen clouds so black in all my life. Even the time I was in a tornado (yes, once again, in my store.. I'm seeing a bad pattern here)

Even my customers started getting scared. We ended up okay though, only after 60+ mile an hour winds..lightning coming down all over the parking lot and rain coming down so hard that you couldn't see 2 inches in front of you. The streets were covered in debris and for some reason - gravel - on the way home. Once I got about 2 miles to home - nothing. It never even boomed there!

No wonder Matt thought I lost my mind when I called him and told him to get his rear end home with the dogs..lol Until he heard what was going on on the radio.

So this brings me to my question..

"Which natural meteorlogical..what to call it.. "event" scares you the most?"

A friend of ours son was killed by lightning a few years ago. Zap out of nowhere... nice day.. etc. If it's lightning, I'm inside. Some of the others scare me too but just not as bad.

I am petrified of lightening (interesting visiting WDW in August!!). My uncle was hit by lightening twice and although he was left with some scars he was OK eventually (once he was at work on a steam railway and his engine cab was hit, the second he opened the front door to let the cat in!!)

I have a HUGE fear of water anyway, but when I see footage of flooding water rushing down streets, I have to close my eyes! The sound of rushing water alone is enough to send my blood pressure skyrocketing!

The biggest body of water I can handle is a swimming pool, and even that is a bit much for me!

Earthquakes...you'll NEVER get me out to CA.

Wow, Lauri! That weather was too wild! Glad everyone was okay.

I voted for Tornados.

I think it's because we get them so often here in late Spring/Early Summer. Haha! Like right now!

I've never had experience with most of the other ones, so this was the most obvious choice.

Hurricanes. We're 35-40 mins from the coast but if a hurricane makes it all the way up here it's scary stuff. We had one when I was real little that left us without power for a week. And hurricanes have a lot of that other stuff in them-they're pretty all-inclusive. I hate flooding, high winds, and lightning, and they're all in a hurricane. Unfortunately I think NH is well overdue to get hit again by one.

if youwere in a commercial area the gravel was probably blown off of roofs in trhe area. a lot of flat roofed building s have alayer of gravel onthe roof to help hold the build up layers in place and to protect from hail/ice damage to roof.

Scared of tornados and of lightening. Hurricanes give plenty of warning and for the most part aren't too bad unless they are category 3 or above. When they are bad it is the embedded tornados that do the damage. And lightening can strike out of a clear blue sky and often does.

tornados and floods,I've been in both now

day before spring break started, low grade twister that shut the school down a day early and 2 summers ago for the flood

Those were some killer storms we had y-day, weren't they? DH was leaving work (Broad & Glenside) and had to sit in his car in the parking lot for a while because the rain & lightning were so bad, he didn't want to get on the road.

Tornados scare the bejesus out of me. I've never actually seen one in real life but I've always had nightmares about them.

Lightning doesn't bother me. In fact I love a good thunder storm. I'll go out on my front porch to watch them. Maybe it's because I've lived in the lightning capital my whole life that I'm just used to it.

I had to vote for lightening......it struck our house on my 30th birthday & I've been very nervous during storms ever since.

I voted for floods. It's been said if our dam would ever break, it would flood the town that is an hour away from here. Having watched too many episodes of Storm Stories, it is a pretty big fear I have. I've also seen some pretty nasty tornadoes, so I'm quite fearful of those as well.

A month ago I would have said tornados. When I was little, the tip of our chimney was hit by one and we watch it come down and destroy a home under construction.

But now I'm not so sure. About a month ago a storm was in our area. All of the sudden, a bolt of lightening crash down. It sounded as if it was in our back yard -- literally. What we found out the next AM was it was in our back yard....just 2 houses down in the neighbor behind us. Right through the front bedroom window. The house is destroyed. Every window in the home is as black as night. The siding on the house melted away. It's an awful sight. :(

Tornados. I've been in them, and I still have a hefty respect for them.

Tornados. I don't live in fear of them, but they have awsome power to destroy anything in their path.

When lightning hit this red pine (about 100' from the cottage), everyone thought they'd had a heart attack! Unfortunately the tree (approx. 150' tall, and the tallest on the property) didn't survive.

I worry about earthquakes and tornados the most
