Just an observation -
I read a trip report that BWV had sandwich boxes they were giving out for free before the hurricane last Friday. A choice of several different sandwiches with drinks, etc., then later they gave out chicken strips boxes to the kids. Very nice.

Then this morning I read BCV was selling boxes for $3
a pop or they could go to Cape May Cafe and get take out boxes from the buffet for FULL price. Plus, people were in line to get food from the store.

I know $3 is a pretty decent price, but why such a difference in the two resorts?

Personally I wouldn't want to pay full price for Cape May Café to take out. I guess if you were on the BC side and didn't have any food or a kitchen like BCV and there were no other options...

Didn't VWL hand out sandwich meals, too for free?

Before I get flamed, I think handing out the sandwich boxes was a very nice touch and Disney in no way was obliged to do so, I'm just wondering outloud why BCV didn't do the same thing.

Hey there! We were at Beach Club Villas on Friday night sitting at the lobby waiting for our name to be called for Cape May Cafe. When we finished eatting the line was super long. Lots of people didn't want to wait in the line so they purchased the take out boxes for what I beleive was the full price of a buffet. I'm not sure if they could come back to fill it up again or not.

And yes they were selling sandwich bags with your choice of turkey or ham sandwich and it came with apple, 2 cookies and macoroni salad for $3.

Edit: Also the line for the boardwalk store was really long because people were purchasing food, the line in the beach club was also very long, it actually went out the door!

lenshanem, no flaming from me, it does not make sense to me either, why two of the resorts were giving folks the boxed lunches and at BCV you were paying for them.

Has anyone considered the fact that staffing was probably very low. I believe all "non-essential" CMs were sent home before the roads closed at 3pm. Perhaps some of the resorts had different resources than others.

I'm sure the resorts normally strive for consistency, but friday the 13th was far from normal.

Just throwing that out there. princess:

I think I know the answer. Cape May Cafe is accessible without going outside. At BW, there are no restaurants (except the lounge) that can be reached without having to go outdoors. The Boardwalk restaurants also had their glass fronts exposed so they wouldn't want them open anyway.

So, at BWV/BWI there was no way to get food without heading outside or ordering room service (I'm sure they didn't have the staff to handle that). Y&B did have options available, although some of their restaurants are also only accessible from outside.

That makes sense to me.

I also guess that management of the individual hotel complexes had a hand in the decision making process. Probably DVC let the hotels make the decisions on what to do.

Yes, someone stranded without any food options is a lot different from someone who has one or more dining options available.

Plus, didn't someone claim to take a few freebies to make up for what they (over)paid for the day before?
