Trying to put the finishing touches on our trip that is only 5 weeks away:eek:  My problem is this is our first trip since my DD#1 turned 12. She is a picky eater and the items on the adult menu don't appeal to her. Can we let her select off the kids menu but pay more? She would never eat enough of an adult meal to pay. Any and all suggestions welcome.:smooth:

She can order off the kids menu except at buffets (or other "all you can eat" type meals).

We have slected of the the kids meal for 15y olds even at MK Cinderella's Roal Table (they brought out 2 cheese burgers for they where small and we payed a little more than the childs price). We have ordered also at the 50 Prime Time MGM, Sci-Fi Theater MGM, Pizzafari AK, and The Land Epcot ( last 2 are counter service). Have a wonderful trip.

Oh...Just read where you are from and wanted to say HI neighbor. We live in Lancaster. When are you planning to go? We leave on July 6th.

momof2sons: It's a small world I grew up not far from you. I grew up in the small town of Somerset. We will be going June 7 - June 14th. My present to the kids for hard work in school all year. Besides the adults need Disney magic too.

We are from the Athens, OH area! It's fun to find out I'm not the only person from Ohio that loves Disney :)

My kids (DS 15 and DD 13) are also picky eaters and we constantly order off the kids' menu. If they're still hungry then we get dessert or a Mickey bar later.

If it's a nice sit-down restaurant with a chef, you can always ask them for something plainer than what is on the menu. If all you want is a plain chicken breast and a plain veggie, then you should ask the server if they can do that.

Good luck!

ON VACATION I let my kids eat almost anything! Once my ds was fussing while I was ordering dinner at Peco Bill's. I ordered him the hot dog. He left the hot dog and ate about one cup of ketcup. I was a little concerned he might vomit, but he didn't. He ate veggies later that night. It all works out at the end of the day. Ice cream for dinner ~ YES! Later the kids crave apples and oranges! I have a very picky 13 y/o. During our WDW trip last December, he ate burgers from the kids menu for lunch and dinner every single day for the whole week. Luckily, at Disney, you can do that! Normally, it would concern me when that was all he ate, but it's only one week out of the year, and at WDW I don't want to be nagging him about eating.

I can be pretty picky myself sometimes, so a couple of times I ordered off the kids menu too. No one ever minded.

I agree with Sandra C. When we are on vacation we don't worry about. My Ds proved last year that you can eat chicken nuggets, twice a day for a week and not start crowing!! He did eat something different one night. He had a beaver tail!! He got plenty of dairy from ice cream everyday, and french fries sorta are a vegtable. I tried to gear him toward the fruit at buffets but I was quite disapointed in the fresh friut selection on most of these. His new favorite food however is "a good steak" Yea 23.00 bucks and he will eat like 6 bites. Guess we will be sharing a lot of steak meal this year!!!

I am confused I thought at the buffet the kids start with dessert and work backwards. That is what my DD 10 and DS 7 told me LOL

I agree the other posts, ask the chef to make something for the kids. They are very adept at wipping up stuff. I never knew a child could survive on pizza for 5 days.

You've never met my daughter. Pizza and PB&J are food groups as far as she's concerned. Thanks for everyones help. I wasn't sure how picky Disney was about ordering off the kids menu. 5 weeks from Sat and WL here we come:bounce:
