I just paid for our vacay! We have chosen to do the dining plan. I've heard that portions at some of the restaurants are rather large and it's a good idea to share when you can, not only to not gorge yourself but to make your credits go farther, i.e. sharing the double cheeseburger. What I don't know is will they allow that at the table service restaurants? We've got ADR's for Chef Mickey's, Whispering Canyon, Lilo & Stich and Princess storybook. Any chance for any of those?

Chef Mickey's, Lilo & Stitch, and Princess Storybook are all character meals and all you can eat restaurants, so no. Each person will be charged one TS credit. At Whispering Canyon, if you order the all you can eat skillet, then again each person will be charged one TS credit. If you order one of their other entrees, then yes two people could share there. You can get an all you can drink milk shake at Whispering Canyon for a beverage, but again that can not be shared. Basically anyplace that is all you can eat, you can not share!

You didn't ask, but Marrakesh has a couple of feasts that also can not be shared. Also anything on the menu that specifically states that it is for 2 or more people will require at least 2 credits to get it (i.e. some desserts, family meals at Tutto Italia or Nine Dragons).

Thanks for the info. What aobut counter service? Is that the place to share meals? I spoke w/a friend yesterday who went last fall and said by the last day they'd used up all their credits. I know there will be things we want that we'll have to pay for, adult beverages and other things I'm sure. I'm just a budget-minded girl and try to make it go as far as I can!

You can share CS meals, but not TS meals, not even if you only order one entree, they are going to ake on credit for each person at the table. My mom and I share alot of our CS meals, because there is so much food, but we try to do the buffets for our TS meals, so we can control the portion of food. In fact for our Dec 2006 trip, we had like 6 left over CS meals. I always make sure to use all of our TS meals, because that in itself pays for the DDP.

Thanks for the info. That will definitely help make things go farther, I think if my husband will share, that is. he's a big eater most of the time so we'll see! maybe have the kids share as well.

This may have changed with the 2008 DDP, but I know for a fact that we did share the TS meals (we were all on the dining plan) in Sept and October of 2007 and were charged only 1 TS meal. But I know all in the party must be on the plan in order to share.

You can share at a TS restaurant, as long as it is not an all you can eat type place or an entree/dessert made for more than one person (feasts or family style type entree).

The best places to share (IMO) for CS are:
Animal Kingdom--Flame Tree Barbeque
Hollywood Studios--Toy Story Pizza Planet
Epcot--the Fish and Chips place in the World Showcase
Magic Kingdom--Cosmic Rays or Pinocchio's Villag Haus

I plan on sharing with my 10 year old dd. She will never eat an entire adult entree herself so instead of throwing half of it out we will share some of them. I am planning on doing a couple Character meals that we will not be able to share, but since they are all you can eat buffets we won't be throwing away any food.
I also plan on sharing all of our CS credits. We are going in Sept, and it will be hot so we won't feel like eating much in the afternoon anyway.

:thumbsup2

Thanks for the info! this will help a great deal. We've got 3 character meals out of 5, so we won't be able to share those, and that's fine. We'll just work on the others. I'm so excited, the kids keep asking when we're going. I need to make a calendar so we can mark off the days. Anyone done anything like that? I've got rewards charts made up for them, but 7-8 wks is FOREVER to a 4 and 7 yo!:yay:

Definately want to second the thing about sharing at Pizza Planet. I found that to be the biggest servings in terms of CS. You get a personal pizza, salad, and dessert with their meals. DD still won't eat salad (as much as I try). DH and I ate ours but then only wanted one piece of the pizza. I walked around trying to at least give someone DD's salad but EVERYONE was saying that they were full from their own meals. If you go there...DEFINATELY share.

Thanks for the tip on the Pizza place.

You never know what someone might want to eat at a CS,
but sharing is a thought when you know you can't eat it all by yourself.

11 yr old dd still eats off the kids meal, but is to old for the kids size Dining plan :sad2:
