Meal Deal Question

Does anyone know if they allow you to only get an entree or side on the meal deal? My 7 year old eats constantly but she only wants small things like either a hot dog or just fries or just the cookie. It would be a waste to get her a full meal and throw half of it away. It would definitely save me money but I would not want to waste food.

You get one entree and one dessert per trip through the line. Kids eat off the kids menu---which typically involves a hot dog and fries or something like that. There are only three counter service restaurants in each park that accept the meal deal. I'm sure you could ask for just part of the meal. It shouldn't matter to them.

While I agree that it shouldn't matter, I know at the mouse they are obligated to give you everything. We did their dining plan once and tried repeatedly to get the CS places to keep the desserts as we didn't want them. Each and every time they informed us that they had to give them to us and we could just throw them away. No idea if Universal has this same ridiculous policy.

Save your money. Unless you are going to eat 3 meals, its not worth it.

But if she does eat constantly, MAYBE it will be worth it. I guess it depends on how much she ends up eating though and what it costs.

The stuff I like is not what is usually included in the meal deals - we often have two meals onsite and then snack having dipping dots and such.

You can get just the pieces of the meal that you want. At one of the restaurants, the deal includes fish and chips. They give you 2 smallish pieces of fish. DH will go back through the line and tell them he just wants the fish - no chips or desert. They are just fine with that. So, he actually has enough fish to go with his chips:)

Oh - and we hardly ever take the desert. They are just fine with that.

I don't know why everyone hates on the meal deal plan. It is TOTALLY worth it if you're going to both parks for a full day.

Simple.

Meal deal costs more than 2 meals. So to get the value out of it, you need to eat 3 times. That's also assuming you get the one park meal, which limits you to eating in that park.

So the problem I have with it is that if it saves you anything, its not much. I'd rather spend an extra $5 and have the choice of eating where I want. I considered it last trip, but did the math and considered the limitations and it just wasn't worth it.

That's bizarre; I've never heard that on the WDW side of the boards before!

It's worth it to you. It wouldn't be for me. We haven't yet stepped foot in the places included in the meal deal, and don't plan on it. There's nothing there we would want, let alone two or three times in one day!

Agreed...there are much better places to eat that aren't on the meal deal (with the exception of Louie's) that I would rather enjoy. Thunder Falls Terrace and Finnegan's are both delicious but aren't on the meal deal. Plus I don't want the standard fare that's offered over and over throughout the day.

Also...I couldn't eat $20.00 worth of food in a day if you paid me...at least not any more.
;)
