With all the differnet types of wine all over the World I was wondering if anyone has ever seen mead? I thought maybe they would have it in Norway or England in Epcot but I don't remember seeing it last time.

Have you ever run across it? I am not a big beer or wine (most types anyway) fan, but it would be nice to pick up a glass of the sweet stuff while walking around enjoying the sites.

PS: For those who don't know, mead is wine made from honey instead of grapes.

Thanks for your help!:hippie:

I'm afraid I have never noticed mead for sale at any of the eating, drinking or shopping places in WDW. My uncle, brother and SIL all do 14th century re-enacting and are big lovers of mead, so I am fairly sure I would have noticed it.

There are plenty of sweet drinks, cocktails etc and most TS restaurants offer long wine lists that include dessert wines, some of which are as sweet as some meads.

Perhaps you should lobby for there to be a Winne-the-pooh honey products stall in Hollywood Studios or somewhere (Magic Kingdom being non-alcoholic park) :rotfl:

Fingers crossed some other clever person may have spotted mead somewhere I missed?

They had a honey mead during Food and Wine Festival in England but Im not sure if its available all year long

I don't recall seeing it except during Food & Wine. If anyone has it, I would think the Rose & Crown lounge or Raglan Road at DTD would be the most likely candidates.

Thanks for the help. I guess I will go without or try one of the dessert wines mentioned. I may also check out Raglan Road, never thought of that one. :)

As for the Winnie the Pooh Honey stall...too funny. Maybe they can set it up back by the meet n greet they have sometimes in the UK pavillion. I've seen a few parents there who could use it. ;)

Raglan Road lists a mead on their drink menu. Here is the description:

Bunratty Mead
A white wine, honey & spice imported from Ireland.

I've only seen it in the parks during the Food and Wine Festival but I believe Raglan Road has mead on their drink menu.

You guys are awesome! :cool1:

Now I have a reason to go to Raglan Road. I've never made it past the gift shop.

I've never had mead so I'm not too familiar with the taste, but if you like hard cider, they serve Strongbow at the Rose & Crown Pub :)

That one is very nice. Because it is blended with white wine it is lighter and more refreshing than traditional mead, but still quite sweet with an excellent flavor. I actually tried it for the first time at Food & Wine in '05 and when we got home I searched a bit and finally found a local shop that carries it (no easy task as Irish wines aren't exactly as mainstream as Italian, German, or French ). I didn't even realize that Raglan Road had it, though, because when I'm there I'm drinking Guinness.
