Any update on how it's been lately? I don't mind waiting for my luggage to get to my room, since we're arriving early in the day, and will have anything vital in our carryons. Has it been extremely crowded? Difficult to get to/from the resorts? Pickup to go back home - is it really THAT much earlier than you would have left anyway? I'm getting to the end of my window to sign up, and need to make a decision soon. Any info to help me decide would be greatly appreciated!

My SIL met us week before last at BW (we drove, she flew in a couple of days later)...her experience was quite positive...very little wait, made it from jetway to room in about 90 minutes (included time to hike in from last gate, check in at DME, bus wait and ride, drop off and check in at the hotel)....we have never beat that time with a rental car (not sure it was much longer than a town car since she did not have to wait for luggage).

Her return was fine also. Pick up was 2 hours and 45 minutes before flight time...town car companies usually want to pick you up 2 to 2.5 hours before flight time depending on the time of day/traffic....so 15 minutes to save $50+....yeah, I'll do it.

Can't wait for our Nov trip...we will be using DME for sure.

If all the reports are as glowing as yours, we'll be on the DME bus come October. Hope your trip is great! We'll say hi to Mickey for you and let him know you're coming. :cool1:

I've used DME twice now...once in June and again two weeks ago. The first time in June we flew Song. We were at our resort's pool (BCV) about 1 1/2 hrs after touching down at MCO. Our bags arrived in our room 30 minutes after we got into the room. Leaving was a breeze. We changed resorts so I thought there might be an issue but nope. I checked my luggage around 8:30 a.m., had breakfast and a swim. Got back to the DME area for the bus about 15 minutes before we were scheduled to leave. We got to the airport about 2 hrs. before our flight.
Two weeks ago, we flew SW. Same arrival story. We were checking into Pop about an hour after we arrived at MCO. THere has been about an 8 minute wait at the DME check-in desk, then over to the bus line...another 5-10 min. wait. About 35 minutes to the first resort stop. Not bad at all. I do wish that SW was one of the airlines you can have your luggage checked with at the resort. I hated having to lug my stuff back to the airport.
I'm using DME again in Nov. It has really worked out great for me.

New to this ME transportation... can you use it if you're renting someone's DVC points? Or is just strictly for the owners? If I can use it, when do I sign up? And where?

Like I said, I'm new to the whole "Disney is giving something away for free" thing. Stumped...

Yes you can! I am doing this 9 days from now. You have to call DVC Member Services to make the arrangements. You should do this at least 21 days out to get the luggage tags in time.

Great! Glad I could help. Good luck and have a great trip!

Since I haven't seen any negative threads about it, I think I'm going to bite the bullet and give them a call with my flight info. What the heck, for free, I can put up with a lot. Besides, I'd rather check it out when it's just DH and I than when we go back with the kiddies :goodvibes

We just got back and used ME. The way there was great. We were at WL by 11 after landing around 9:30. luggage was there by 2ish. Our last day the computers were down so we couldnt check our luggage in at the WL so we had a rental car so we just drove it to the airport with the luggage. We will defnatley use this again.

It sounds like you used ME to get to your resort then got a rental car later? I was thinking of bidding on Priceline to pick one up in the Downtown Disney area after using ME to get to WDW, but I don't know exactly where the companies are. Their map is very vague. If it isn't exactly at Downtown Disney, I wouldn't know how to get there without a car -- Catch 22!

We are using ME to get from MCO to CSR. But we are renting a car at the WDW Car Care Center and will be driving back to MCO. Saves us a day on the rental costs as well as giving us more time on our departure day.

We are doing the same thing, using ME and then renting (we are picking up the car 2 days later). It's cheaper to rent at the Dolphin than MCO, and we really don't want the car the first day as we will be at the MK. It saved us $70 in car rentals and will actually be more convenient.

sorry is hould have ben clear, my 5 yr old son and i took ME and my 3 yr old son and husband went to and got the rental car. We rented through Thrifty which was around 100 less than what priceline was giving me. its offsite though but there is shuttle that takes you right there. its like 5 minutes away.

Is it possible to not use their ME tags and get my luggage myself and have it on the bus with me? It will have my ds' nebulizor in it and I don't want it to get lost or have issues of it taking forever to get to the resort. Has anyone done this??

Sure it's possible - but a nebulizor is NOT the kind of item you should back in your checked luggage to begin with. What if that suitcase gets "misdirected" by the airline?

All valuables, medications/medical supplies, documents etc should ALWAYS be in a carry-on - along with a change of clothes, toothbrush/toothpaste/deodorant and bathing suit if you plan to swim on arrival.

Thanks for the response. No I wouldn't be checking my luggage with the meds and nebulizor I am carrying it on.
so you don't think it will be an issue?
