Has anyone tipped the driver of the ME bus? If so how much? princess:

From MCO to the resort I tipped the driver $2 .... he was very nice and stowed my carry on under the bus for me. I wanted to have it put there as I don'd care much for the overhead or under seat storage on busses.

From the resort to MCO I tipped the driver $10 .... the guy was awesome. Stored all of our luggage very kindly for us, and i forgor on of my bags at the curb. I only remembered when i was just about to get in the elevator .. ran back and there he was holding my bag. Said he wondered why I left witout it. Job well done.

I thought that I read someplace that Disney's contract with Mears, who provides the drivers for the Magical Express, included the tip for the driver. However, most posts that I have seen, have advocated tipping the driver if he/she handles your luggage for you. For most who use the yellow ME tags for their luggage, which is then delivered directly from your room from MCO (supposedly the tip is also included with Disney's contract with the luggage handlers that also do this), and who also use the Resort Airline Check In for participating airlines to check their bags, instead of taking them with them on the ME, you wouldn't need to tip the driver. But I'm sure that if the driver goes above and beyond, any additional tip would be appreciated.

This is not correct.

We tipped $1 for each bag the driver put on the bus for us. We thought the service was great!

Just used ME this past week and gave each driver $5 (stowed our bags for us). I watched all the passengers on both trips and only one other person tipped the driver. Tacky.

My 16 year old son made this comment as well. He got the bags while I got in the check in line. He said he was the only person to tip, and that most of the people had several bags.

The DME buses don't have overhead luggage bins or luggage racks. Most of the larger carry on size bags have to get stowed under the bus along with the checked luggage for passengers who get their own bags.

It's customary to tip courtesy shuttle van drivers $1-$2/bag for luggage assistance.

Eh, they kinda do... They could fit a purse, or a merchandise bag, but certainly not standard airline carryon.

They're always handling luggage for me (I take carryons) so yes, I tip them. Usually about a buck a bag. I'm generally the only one on the bus who does, whether they are handling baggage or not.

In Sept our driver made an announcement that they were not being tipped by Disney, so any tips would be appreciated. I had read here on the DIS that they were to be tipped, so was planning on tipping anyway, but I thought his announcement was sort of tacky.

You kinda of made my point, purses and shopping bags aren't luggage. Anything that you put on the overhead bin in an airplane will wind up under the bus.

I'm sure the drivers would appreciate a tip from everybody.

I'll happily tip them if they do more than drive the bus, such as helping with my luggage.

So you only need to tip IF the driver helps you your bags, right? :confused3

I'm planning to use the full service. My son and I will each have a backpack that we will take on the bus with us.

I assume in this case we don't NEED to tip the driver.

We generally tip them $1 per person, plus $1 per piece if they have to stow our luggage.
