We will be staying on Disney property for a week. I do not have a rental car in the budget and was hoping to soley rely on ME and Disney Transportation which we have been happy with in the past.

Here is my problem - Our vacation is planned Sun. -Sun., but airfare is way cheaper on Sat. I want to book a late Sat. night flight, and stay one night in a budget friendly hotel/or motel and continue on to Disney in the morning for check in. Prob is, I don't want to deal with a rental car for just one day and the hassle of having to return it and find our way back to our hotel. (I need to hit the parks commando style and have no time for rental car return).

Can I fly in on Sat. night, stay at an airport hotel, and return to the airport in the morning to catch the ME to my resort? If so, will I need to handle my luggage? OR will I still be able to use the ME luggage tags and they will make sure it gets on the morning bus?

I was hoping ot priceline a hotel room for cheap since our family will need 2 rooms. 2 rooms for one night at Disney, (even a value), is so expensive that I might as well buy the more expensive airfare and go on SUn.

You can use ME on Sunday morning, try and find a airport hotel that has a shuttle. When you make your ME reservations just use a flight that lands on Sunday morning approx the time that you want to use ME, although I don't think they track the inbound flight anyway as long as you have a reservation on ME. You will have to handle your own luggage. Good Luck!!

An aside, if per chance you already have your DME reservation including the yellow tags with correct check in date, and the flight information you once gave them is missing, you do not have to call and furnish it except for after 10 PM arrivals.

For DME going home, it is better to make any additions, changes, or corrections after you get there. Less chance of more glitches or confusion.

>>> commando style ... no time for rental car return
It is a good idea to aim to be back at your resort an hour before DME bus time back to the airport. Too much of a chance of a glitch such as having to wait for the next bus back to the resort because of so many people waiting. Meanwhile you can leave directly for the airport when you have your car in the park parking lot. Just be sure to have the car in gear at least 2-1/2 hours before flight time.

We are doing this in a few weeks. We are flying in on a Fri night and taking the hotels shuttle to the hotel that night. Then back on Sat morning to get DME to Disney. I just gave Disney the Flight information for a Sat morning flight arriving around the time I want to catch the bus. No need to rent a car. I would suggest getting a hotel with airport shuttle that runs easily.

The luggage you will have to deal with yourself. Do not put the tags on the bags. Even if for some reason you did get to stay at Disney for those nights, you would have to pull your bags off the carosouels after 10 pm. They stop pulling luggage after that time and you would have to lug it anyways. So go ahead and find a hotel close by. We used the Holidany Inn at the Airport since they have a shuttle and we had left over priority points to use.

I am sure you can check which hotels have a shuttle in the area (or go on the Orlando hotel boards and ask) and then do priceline or Hotel.com. Good luck!

Go on Hotwire and look for Orlando airport Area hotels. The 4 star one is usually the Hyatt Regency airport with is a beautiful hotel and deals can be had on it, if ou do Hotwire or take your chances on Priceline. Most of the Airport Area Hotels have a free airport shuttle. You can pick up your own luggage, go to the hotel and return to ride DME on Sunday morning.
