ME luggage question?

I received all my ME luggage and transportation information. Is it alright for me to pick up my own luggage and take it with me on the bus to my resort? I'd rather be in control of my luggage and take it with me when I check in. We don't want to have to wait to until it is delivered since we will already be arriving in the evening. Thanks.

Yes, it's okay. It will delay you at the airport while you wait for your luggage, and it will overall take the bus longer when the driver needs to unload passenger-carried checked luggage from under the bus. In addition, Disney is not responsible for tips when passengers don't use luggage delivery, and it's customary to tip anyone who handles your luggage (yes, even when you don't have a choice, as in the driver will not allow passengers to stow or pull their own luggage from under the bus.

It's also advisable to have a backup plan in case the airline misdirects one's checked luggage.

Even though you plan on getting your luggage, make sure you pack your necessities in your carry-on. It is far more likely the airline would loose your luggage than it getting lost by the ME people.

Also, it is customary to tip the ME driver for helping with your luggage.

Yes, you can get your own bags. Just make sure you don't put the yellow tags on and DME won't pull it behind the scenes.

Yup, we always do that.............grab it yourself and go straight to ME. It'll take some extra minutes (while you await the luggage on the belt) but otherwise, thats it....for us its worth it....we like having all our stuff too.

Thank you. Usually we rent a car, so this is all new to me. I know the first night I'm going to want to get to sleep early, so it might be best I get my own luggage, plus I don't mind tipping the bus drivers, etc.. Well see- I might change my mind the day we leave. I was just curious if I had the option.
