I am sure it's been asked a million times, but I couldn't find it..

What has everybody's experience been with Magical Express Luggage Delivery?

I'm paranoid of my bags getting lost! I didn't use it last trip b/c I didn't get my tags in time an we weren't going to park anyway. This time we might go to DTD. I really didn't think it made a difference though, since we had to wait for the bus to fill up.

I've used DME about 5 times. I've never had a problem with luggage. It's always been delivered to my room less than 90 minutes after checking in. there's probably more of a chance of your bags getting lost on the flight than on DME.

If you can trust the airlines with your bags you can trust Magical Express with them. I've used ME many times and have been very satisfied with the luggage delivery part of it.

I have never had an issue. I think bag delivery is the BEST part of DME!!

We've used ME 3 times and it's worked like a charm!! I love not hauling my luggage around the airport:goodvibes and the luggage has always been delivered on a timely basis.

I've used DME more times than I can count...will be using them, again, in about a month! I have never had an issue. I figure I stand more of a chance of the airlines misdirecting my bags than DME. If those bags get to WDW property, it isn't going to be too hard for them to be found!!
I do pack a carryon bag with my first day stuff though. And the one time I traveled with someone that didn't? That was the time that we had to remain at the resort because she didn't pack what she would need...just extra shoes in her carryon!! So, we had to wait for her bags to get there...at Pop. And it took about 5.5 hrs for those bags to get to the room...after repeated calls. Seems the values don't have quite as good luggage service...which I really knew but hadn't thought about since I usually just drop my carryon and head to a park for the rest of the day!!!

When you say 'in your room', how soon after you checked in? Or are you saying the bags were in your room when you got back after hours in the park.
Disney tells us that our room is not our room until they have handed us the room keys. So, if you're standing at the front counter, have gotten your keys, your room is ready, and you go there, the chances aren't likely that your checked bags will be in the room. It takes about 70 mins, average, to get from your gate to your resort. I'm not at all sure it takes less time for the luggage truck to get to all the resorts, get the bags unloaded, and the luggage delivered to rooms. Just doesn't make sense to me.
In all the times I've used DME (at least 8+), I've never gone to my room, ready upon arrival, and found my bags there.

Yes your room are set before you get there. On our last big family trip we had our room numbers several days before we arrived. You just have to have the right TA (this was a Disney one not the one we use now). On our trip for December we already know what building we will be in (not room number yet). So for our trips in 2009 and 2011 our bags were in our rooms when we got that. At least the rooms that were ready. For the two that were not ready they left them in my room as I was the group leader.

This happened to us once, in 2010. We did online check-in at ASMo. We took ME to the resort, picked up our folder, walked to our room, and found our bags waiting inside the door. :thumbsup2

It doesn't matter what TA you use, your room is not your room until you are in it. Disney pre_assigns rooms but they still can change it if. Someone checks in before you and wants what you have. Your room is not set in stone until they hand you your room card.

You have been lucky.

I had done online checkin and it turned out that the room assigned to us wasn't ready yet. (we were not expecting it to be ready, as it was early...we just wanted the process done and to have our keycards and go on with our day) The CM insisted on taking another guest's pre-assigned, and ready, room, to give to us. That guest wasn't slated to come in until afternoon. His room (and this only came about because my last name can also be the first name of a male, and the CM grabbed the wrong folder) was taken from him and given to us. And that could happen to you, too. FWIW.

I've used ME probably close to 20 times and the bags were in our room right after we checked in once. I was shocked. It was at CSR and there was a pretty long line to check in, so that took a little extra time, but I was still really impressed.

ME is terrific. I love not having to get my bags. It was kind of funny when my 18 yo DD flew into West Palm Beach earlier this month to meet up with a friend and she texted me from baggage claim saying "where is Magical Express - hate waiting for my luggage!"

Highly unusual to have knowledge of either specific rooms or even buildings prior to checkin. It doesn't matter who your TA is...the rooms don't get assigned until a few days prior to checkin. You can make a bldg request, but in all reality? For a trip in Dec? There is no way for them to make an assigment now...there is no way for the room assigner's to know who is going to be in any bldg this far out...too many people still making plans.

I will have to wait and see how my bags make out in late May...I head to Music, so will see if the bags are there when I check in. I will have to chat with the luggage dept to see what current luggage policy is. All I know is that Disney tells us that we can not have anything placed in 'our' room until we have actively checked in. Why? They tell us that it is not 'our' room until they have turned it over to us...room key in hand, room number given out. They say there are too many last minute changes to rooms...so no way to have something special put in the room for arrival!
But now we have people saying that their luggage is being placed in rooms that have not been turned over to guests, and that guests know the rooms they will be in before they get there. Curious.

We go straight to the resort from the airport and yes our bags were in our rooms for at least 3 of our trips. Yes we did know our room number before we got there for our 2011 trip. On our 2007 trip it took almost 4 hours for check in, so for 2001 trip he had room number and our room keys were waiting for us when we arrived and we did not do online check in. It only took about 20 minutes to get 25 people to there rooms. There was 2 rooms that were not cleaned so that family had to wait but still had there room keys. Yes we know what building we are in for our December trip.

We requested 1pm checkin at AoA resort and got there at 12:30 from the airport (flight arrived at 11am). Room was ready, bags were not there. We got back from the hotel at 8pm, everything was in our room. I would ALWAYS use the ME luggage delivery. Wonderful perk!

Did you do Grand Gatherings? That would account for your experience.

We used ME in 2011. Our flight got in later around 9:30 pm. Our bags got to us at sports about 2 hours later. Will be using it again here in 26 days : )
