ME and Westjet

HI,
I was able to take advantage of the free dining pin that I received
We booked ASMu Nov 10-19. We then booked our flight on West Jet, Edmonton to Calgary then direct to Orlando. If we are using ME do we have to collect our luggage in MCO since it's a Canadian flight or will they pull it like with an American carrier?

You will have to claim your luggage at baggage claim and then, on your way to Magical Express, a representative will take your baggage from you to be delivered to your room up to 3 hours after your arrival to your resort. If you are arriving at MCO after 10pm, you MUST claim your luggage and bring it with you on the Magical Express. They do not offer the baggage delivering after 10pm.

I usually take care of my own luggage just so I know where it is and so I have everything I brought with me accessible as soon as I arrive at my resort. It seems more of a hassle coming from Canada to do the Magical Express. If it's something you want to take advantage of, by all means, go for it. It just seems that Domestic (US) travellers benefit much more from this service.

Jenbear thanks for the quick reply. If we have to claim our luggage we'll just keep it with us for the bus ride. Since it's 2 adults and no small kids, having the bags placed under the bus then carrying my own bag to my room is problem at all.

Actually when you land in Orlando you don't need to claim your bags because you will be clearing US Customs in Calgary, so your flight will be treated like any other flight arriving within the United States. So just remember to put on the yellow luggage tags that you will get in the mail and when you land you can go right to the Magical Express check-in counter.

I dont' mind getting the bags and carting them around. But...if we didnt' have to, that would be nice too!
We get in at 7pm so I'm hoping that the bags would get to the room that night.

We are traveling the exact same dates on the direct WJ flight from Calgary to Orlando.

I would highly suggest collecting your own luggage and taking it with you on Magical Express. Last time I took the direct flight we got to the hotel between 8:30 and 9 so your luggage might not be delivered until after 11:30.

If you clear customs in Calgary then you are treated as if flying domestic and therefore DME can collect your luggage if you want! If you are flying some charters which clear customs in Orlando then you collect your bags.

We have flown WJ to Orlando several times and have never had to claim our bags at the airport.

In 2007 we arrived in Orlando after 10 p.m. and our bags were delivered to us the next morning around 8 a.m. We didn't want to take the time to claim the bags in the airport as it was late for the kids so just had pjs and toothbrushes in our carry on bags.

Keep in mind that Magical Express recently changed their "After 10pm" policy back in March I believe.

IMO, play it safe and pick up your luggage at baggage claim. It's not worth the risk of losing your luggage and having no clothes for the week!

We are going on a girls trip too! My friend and I are ditching husband/boyfriend and taking her 2 daughters on their first trip to the World.

Exactly 15 weeks from now we will be boarding the plane.
