ME and rental cars

Can I use ME even if we are renting a car and not taking the ME bus? How does that work?

See above link from All Ears site. You actually must ride the ME bus to take advantage of the service. In other words, the service is not for luggage alone.

Are you picking up your rental at the airport?

You could take advantage of ME if you pick up your rental on-site at WDW. There is shuttle pick-up service from each WDW resort to the Car Care Center.
