MDE questions

I'm hoping someone can answer some questions about linking friends on your MDE account.
1.)When you link friends who have their own MDE account, I know that you can see their photopass photos, but will they be included in my memory maker package? (assuming they will be as long as they are taken within the time frame of my trip)
2.) How does it handle tickets as far as making separate FP+ reservations and tickets.
Ex: Both parties are on the reservation and have their own MDE accounts. One of the parties has an annual pass that expires prior to the trip but they have tickets linked as part of the package for the up coming trip in the other's MDE account. They will likely renew the annual pass so any guesses on which MDE account to use to the make FP+ reservations? I would think the account with the new ticket because it books at 60 days and the MDE account with the annual pass is 30 days, but I'm guessing. Also, which MDE account will the new magic band link back too? Would making them friends, just link everything so they annual pass would be at 60 days too? Will it mess with other FP+ reservations for a different trip?

I feel like the linking friends thing will mess up something, so while I'd like to be able to book everyone's stuff together I just don't know if it's worth the headache. This is my 4th trip with magic bands (2nd one with linking) and I feel like it would be easier if each trip had it's own MDE account since I don't know what linking will do for other trips, accounts, tickets. Anyone with any experience here?

1) You will be able to see and download the pictures of anyone who is included in your friends and family who has also authorized you to view their photos. HOWEVER, you will not be able to see the edits they make to their photos, nor will they be able to see yours. So, if you intend to share a MM, whoever has the MM entitlement linked to their account will need to do all of the photo edits on their account. Also, only the person who has the MM entitlement will be able to view any of the ride photos for either party.

2) I'm a little confused by what you are asking. It doesn't matter what type of ticket/AP is linked, anyone who is invited to plan and share can do just that. So, either party will be able to make or change FP for all friends and family through their MDE account. The time frames for making FP reservations only apply to onsite versus offsite. If you are onsite, regardless of if you have a regular ticket or if you have an AP, you are able to book at 60 days out for the length of stay. If you are offsite, regardless of if you have a ticket linked or have an AP, you are not able to book until 30 days out. If you have an AP, you are limited to the 7 days of FP booking if you are offsite.

I'm talking about an onsite stay that has tickets as part of the package. I know that either party can make and change FP+ reservations once linked as friends on MDE, but it's not clear to me which ticket/magic band everything will actually link back to? The annual pass on the account without the onsite reservation expires prior to the trip but not prior to the 60 day mark. The AP will be renewed. I'm wondering if the accounts are linked, will the annual pass or the package ticket be used for the FP+ reservations? Can the annual pass still be used to make FP+ reservations (within the 30 day window) for a different trip without impacting the FP+ reservations for this trip since there is a ticket linked to the trip as well? I don't want to link and end up getting less FPs than if we just weren't linked and did the trips separate.

I guess I'm clear on the basics of the 30 vs. 60 window concept, but I'm not seeing too much about how the system makes the decisions when more than one ticket(ticket type) or more than one trip is involved on linked MDE accounts.

It's also not clear to me which MDE account the magic band that are sent out for the trip link back to. I'm guessing it's the one with the reservation but does that mean that it will use the package ticket for park enterance if I use that magic band instead of the one linked to the MDE account with the annual pass? Again, I'm just not clear on what the system does and I don't want to end up using a ticket at the same time as an annual pass.

Hope that's a little clearer but likely it's more confusing. :confused3

I don't think you will be able to make FP+ selections for the person with the AP past the expiration date of the AP before you renew it as you won't have a paid admission for those dates.

Each MB links to that person's MDE account. Look at "My Family & Friends" on your MDE account. Make sure you can see everyone in your party and that you are each linked to "Plan and Share". That way each person can change their own plans or those of anybody in the group.

Each person will have to have a ticket assigned to their MB in MDE prior to making FP+ selections or entering a park.

I agree with this. The valid theme park admission is what allows a person to book a FP. If the AP will expire prior to the trip, that person no longer has a valid theme park admission. HOWEVER, if that person also has a regular ticket linked, the FP would be booked on the basis of them having that ticket.

If you have an AP linked and both of your trips are onsite, you are not limited to the 7 days of FP for APs, but can still book FP for the entire length of your trip.

I don't know if you have a ticket and an AP linked if you would be entitiled to the number of days on your ticket plus the 7 days for the AP. I'm not sure why you would want to have both linked (other than that particular possible scenario). I would use the ticket from the package towards the cost of the AP renewal.

From what I've read, the system makes decisions based on how the tickets are prioritized in your account. However, I've only seen that discussed pertaining to tickets only, not tickets and APs.

Magic bands are linked to accounts, not tickets or APs. Therefore, if you get one magic band for one stay, one for another stay, and also have one for an AP, you are supposed to be able to use them all interchangably. I used 2 sets on my last trip with no problems and I have 4 sets ready to go for my next trip.

Thanks for the replies.

I've been able to get the basics about MDE accounts, booking FP+, and magic bands linking to account not tickets(I have 3 for mine MDE account in fact) and this is my 4th trip with magic bands. The AP will also be renewed but the renewal window is in the middle of all the other deadlines. (Just another layer of drama)

The specific questions I have are in regards to having multiple MDE accounts(mine & the reservation holder's), trips(different dates & groups), and tickets(a AP & a package ticket each on different MDE accounts). I'd like to be able to make fp+ reservations as groups for each trip but I'm concerned linking the accounts will some how prevent this. Will linking these accounts put the package ticket from one MDE account into the other MDE account that already has an AP? If so, then how do I prioritizes them? I've not seen a way to to do that, am I missing something? The package ticket can't be unlinked and the AP is already in the other MDE account but yes, I'd like to be able to make my 7 days of FP+ reservations on my AP for one trip (within the 30 day window) and also make my FP+ reservations at 60 days for another trip since I have a package ticket linked. I will actually use an AP for theme park admission and save the package ticket for a later AP renewal. I'd be able to do this if I leave the MDE accounts unlinked but would like to make FP+ reservations as a group.

I know I've probably confused everyone even further. If anyone has an experience they can share, I'd appreciate it. thanks again.
