MDE QS pre ordering on app not available under 18yo?

Going to WDW in June and my DGD15 and I was playing around with the QS pre ordering on the MDE app on my DGD phone. It says she can't use it since she's under 18yo? We're also bringing her bff who will just turn 16 two weeks before trip and while me and my bff will mostly be in the same park as they will be we will be touring separately sometimes. (We have several rides we're doing together and some TS meals together) It's a shame they'll have to stand in line to order QS unless she logs in as me to pre order. Kids can drive at 15+16 years old but can't pre order food at Disney. Lawdy.

That's because kids at 15-16 can't (or IMHO shouldn't) have credit cards and you need a credit card to do mobile ordering unless you are on the dining plan. If you're on the dining plan, there's a chance they will be able to order as that payment method doesn't show up until you are there.

I think she'll be fine without pre-ordering. We haven't used that feature yet - we just make sure we aren't eating at peak lunch or dinner times when we are eating at a QS spot and we never have much of a wait anywhere even during the busiest times. If you really want her to be able to use it I guess you could give her your login information and she could order it under you?

Thanks for posting this information as I wasn't aware that it was an issue. My 16 year old son always go off on his own and I'm sure he would be annoyed if he wanted to pre-order. He does have a credit card as he lives away from home for school.

It's not a shame to stand in line to order counter service at Disney. Two teenagers hanging out at Disney having fun on their own can handle a few minutes in line.

I think she'll be fine without pre-ordering. When you give them charging privileges to the room, you’re covering their charges and you’re the one paying Disney, so it’s a little different, legally anyway.

Yes, but she could allow her grand-daughter to use her credit card for pre-order (she would need the CC info to enter it manually) as long as she logs in under her grandmothers account. Minors can have credit cards if they are listed as an authorized user for a credit card account held by someone over 18. They do sign for the purchase but ultimately the account holder is responsible - it's really no different than how the room charges work.

I've never used the MDE preorder before. I just assumed the charges are charged to your room account like when you use a MB. Is that not the way it works?

No. The charge does not go on your room account like other charges. It charges separately at the time of purchase either to your dining plan if you have one, or to the credit/debit card that you designate.
