we were at the world last May and I had the app but it really didn't work that great. Lots of glitches. Plus I relied 100% on the wifi which I hear is hit or miss ... I'm from Canada, so I didn't buy data for the trip.

I'm curious if any other Canadians have been recently and can share their experience? We are headed back again in a few months and wondering if I should get a data package. I can see major benefits to having the app if it works well. Just don't want to pay for a data package if the app is just not great to begin with ...

When we were there in September it was fine, but keep in mind that it's a large area and the more people on wifi means less signal. I always also purchase a data plan through Bell just to be on the safe side as there are times when there will be no wifi, like on the busses. I usually only get the 200 MB package and I usually have more then half left when I get home.

Not from Canada but I used the WiFi in Sept and had no problems at all. Hopefully you'll have a better experience this time around!

IMHO I really do not think the app is completely necessary, I normally book all my FP+ on my home computer or laptop and once I actually arrive at the park use the in-park kiosks for any changes or extra FP+, the kiosks seem to work just fine for me and there are multiple convenient locations throughout the parks.

It's not completely necessary, but I mainly use it to look up wait times, not so much to schedule FP+ stuff. For that purpose it's invaluable, so I'm not going across the park only to find out Space Mountain still has a 70 minute wait or something like that.
