Fastpass window opens tomorrow and all organised with my list of hopefuls- however this morning I thought I'd have a look at the app and how it works and went to create a Fastpass+ party - select all - continue - does everyone have tickets (yes we do) - link ticket or package- entered confirmation number - get message saying
First time - this is already linked
Second time invalid or expired number

What am I doing wrong please?

You don't need to link your package.

The app has the same MDE data as what you entered on the website.

Did you use your original MDE login?

If so, you have booked a package and everything shows up at 7:00a ET when your 60-day FP booking window opens.

Yes I used the original login - I'm afraid I'll have the same problem at 7.00 ET as I did at 180 - had to ring for help! But you're saying it won't ask me to link the guests at that point ? (To be clear they are all on my account and even though in their own room do not have accounts of their own)

You must have missed this section of the FP FAQ:
For onsite guests with a room/ticket package, the 60-day prebooking window will not appear until the 60-day mark. Before this point, it is normal for various members and/or their tickets to not appear on the MDX account. The entire traveling party and their tickets will appear at the 60-day mark in almost all cases. It is generally not possible to practice booking FPs beforehand in this situation.

I think this is a two-part question:

(But see what PP posted above about a package not appearing in MDE early.)

1) What do you have to do in order to make FastPass resies for people staying in your Disney hotel room?
When you log into MDE, can you see your hotel reservation?
When you made the hotel resie, it might have automatically appeared in your MDE.
If it did not, you can enter the confirmation number to make it appear.
Once the hotel resie is in there, can you see all of the people who are staying in your room?
Does each of them have a ticket assigned to them?
If you can see them, and if they have a ticket assigned to them, you should be able to make Fastpass resies for them.

2) What do you have to do in order to make Fastpass resies for people who are not staying in your Disney hotel room?
You say they are on your account even though they are in their own room, because they do not have accounts of their own.
Do you mean that their reservation is in your MDE account?
Or do you just mean that you created icons for them in your MDE account?
For example, there is an icon in my MDE account for my BFF because I took her a few years ago. She does not have a ticket attached to her name. I cannot make Fastpass resies for her.

You can't make Fastpass resies for people unless they have a ticket attached to them.

Disney will let you make Fastpass resies at 60 days because it knows you are staying at a Disney hotel.

If Disney knows you are staying at a Disney hotel, but Disney does not know that your friends are staying at a Disney hotel: can you make Fastpass resies for them at 60 days while you make your own?
Or are they not eligible until 30 days out? I'm not sure about this part of it.

You must have missed this section of the FP FAQ:
^^^^This! This is important. When your FP window is not open it will look like something is wrong if you try to book them or just check that everything is correct before your FP window opens. It causes panic unnecessarily. When your window opens everything will b ethere abd everything will work. The package is already linked if you can see your resort in your plans.

Thanks @Capang @Best Aunt @hiroMYhero I do understand it won't show up correctly until my window opens but I don't understand why as we are one booking (in 2 rooms) it's asking me to link them - I'll just have to wait and see tomorrow- just tried ringing Technical help (who had to do something originally to make everyone show up) but an hours wait I can't do at the moment!

It's because you have a package, and your package tickets are not yet considered valid by MDX. It is a confusing yet well-documented issue, and why I included it in the FAQ.
