Hi.
I thought I remembered glancing over someone that said when they were looking for a FP, they
were on the MDE App on their phone and they kept refreshing to see if anything showed up.
How exactly do you do this on an iPhone 6? I keep having to select my FP park and then look. Can I just stay on the park and refresh. If so, how exactly do I do this.

Thanks.

Just go to the FP you want to Modify and keep tapping other times.

Example: if you have a 10:00p Space FP and want to see what is available for around 4:00p, tap 4:00 and see what comes up. If nothing pops up, tap 4:30. You can keep tapping 4:00, 4:30 etc. or tap Afternoon - Evening.

If something pops up for any timeslot that’s earlier than 10:00p, take it and Confirm. Then, begin Modifying again and searching in the same repetitive manner.

If you opt to use the web browser to access MDE instead, you can just reload the page, or pull down, which I find a tad easier than tapping time boxes over and over again.

Is it easier/more successful to do the refresh trick if you are modifying as opposed to just adding the 4th (or 5th, 6th, etc) when in the parks? Or is there no difference?

In the parks I like to grab the most attractive 4th (5th,6th etc) FP that I can find and then try to modify it to something better... Then when I’ve found something I really want I try to modify the time typically to the earliest available.

I do the same as @DrFacilier. The system gives you more available slots when you already have a booked FP and are Modifying.

Thanks so much for the replies!

If you don't have a FP chosen yet, it lists all available in alphabetical order. So, if you're looking for Test Track, or Splash Mountain, or something like that, you have to scroll a ways to see if there's anything available. Once you get a FP, when you go to modify it (for a better/earlier time) that attraction will now be on top of the list. No scrolling needed.

Especially important at MK where there aren't tiers and there are a lot of rides. Tiered parks aren't quite as bad since tier 1 shows at the top.

So today at lunch I was playing with MDX... looking at wait times, reading menus, etc. We have res at WL (linked) in September and have purchased (and linked) 10 day hopper passes. How was I able to secure a fastpass for 7DMT for 7:50 -8:50 TONIGHT? I was just goofing around! At first I tried our whole party of 3, but nothing was available. I expected it to say Whoaaa! Y'all don't have tickets for today! Back up! But it didn't. So then I changed our party to just one of us and a FP time popped up and I selected and confirmed it! So weird, I didn't want to be a jerk, but I did keep looking at my plans (WL 9/1 - 9/11 showed up) plus that FastPass for TONIGHT. Of course, I cancelled it after 10 minutes, but WTH? Additional info: We were at WDW 9/6- 9/16 last year and our Magic Bands from last year still show on MDX as active. Is that why? To reiterate- I did cancel the FP.

In my situation, I was practicing to see what might be available around noonish or so at MK after we use our first 3. The ones I want weren’t necessarily showing up so I may have to try the refresh option to see if I can get one to show up. Therefore I may have to pick something else then try to modify so I’ll probably still have to scroll through the entire list.

But it’s ok. I was trying it tonight around 8:30 and by refreshing I kept getting different attractions to show up...which shows me refreshing can work to find available attractions that don’t show up initially.

If you have separately purchased tix linked you can make FPs with those tix up to 30 days out from each day. I practice all the time with mine. But yes, I always cancel.

I'm assuming you have a room only reservation and purchased your tickets separately?

With those tickets attached to your account it'll let you book FPs from now through 30 days out. The resort reservation only opens the 60 day booking window, otherwise your tickets are always just "there" and not tied to a specific date.

Ohhhhh. Yep, you're right. That makes perfect sense. Freaked me out a little, tbh. Thank you!

I found 4th + FP for 2 people to be harder to get than I thought when at MK on a busy January Saturday. If we had been willing to accept times late in the evening (park was open until midnight) then we would have had more choices. But in thinking ahead to our May family trip with little ones, we are not counting on the 4th FP option since our park days will all likely be shorter and a 7:00 pm FP won't be helpful.

Were you refreshing a lot?

If your busy MK day was last Sat, there may have been something up with the system. I’ve been trolling FPs a lot the last month and last weekend (I think Sat but I can’t swear to it) was really odd. Around 6 pm I started getting a ton of “Distribution ended for this park” for MK which I had never seen for MK before. I checked wait times on the Lines app and they seemed normal. After refreshing a few times I could get a few FPs to come up but it was kind of odd. I checked the next day and the crowd level was higher than Jan is supposed to be but not holiday busy (I think 6 or 7). I chalked it up to glitchy system or something.

I think it’s smart not to depend on getting 4th FPs but don’t give up hope either. They’re often out there.

It was Jan. 27 which was a 8:00-midnight day. Crowd level was 9/10 and was pretty crazy. We didn’t really care about a 4th FP but I wanted to practice in advance of our family trip in May. Our 3rd FP was around 3:00 due to taking KTTK tour in the morning so that alone put us behind. But other than Teacups and a couple other rides all the FP were gone or only available very late.

Did you select a FP and modify the time? For example: If there was a 7:00 FP for a certain ride available you may be able to modify the time to an earlier spot. From there you can often modify the attraction. It doesn’t always work but in my experience it usually does until later in the day when distribution has truly ended. Having any 4th FP is better than having none because it affords you the chance to get what you really want through modifying and refreshing. If you are willing to put in the “work”, you will be rewarded.
