Can anyone give me some details on what is better to reserve. A towncar or a shuttle? We will be arriving at 10pm at night so I would like a reliable service. Can you give me the name, number and appx cost for 2 adults?

Thank you-Christy

We have the Mears transport, and have booked with FL tours. Mears is ok. Their link is www.mearstransportation.com I think it is currently $28 per adult RT. We book a town car with FL Tours (their link is on the DIS homepage) It will be $90 RT with the coupon printed from the DIS.

With Mears, you usually ride a bus or large van, and stop at all hotels people need. Sometimes a long ride. The towncar driver will meet you in the baggage claim area with a sign with your name and take you to your resort. They will even stop for groceries if you need to.

Try these links and good luck!!

Mears sucks. I'd hitch hike before using the cattle car service.

We are using Happy Limo--- I have ready several positive reviews on this and other boards. The original quote I got from them was one of the more expensive ones...they said if you find a cheaper quote to email it to them and they will match/beat it. They did exactly that...I don't remember the site I used but it was one where several limo companies would send you quotes (we always set up a "junk" email account for things like this). I got a quote of $96---including tips--from this company for RT for a family of 4...Happy Limo matched it.

I have only heard horror stories from Mears....they make several stops along the way dropping people off at other hotels and if you are at a Disney Resort it can take a LONG time to get there.

Good luck!

Do you know what web site was the 'cheapest'. I received a quote of $112.00 for one way from Happy Limo.
Thanks

I found what I had used! I have saved all the quotes and emails I have gotten from places just so I know what I have!

I origianlly looked at www.limo.com that is where I got the quote from Midnight Limo ($80 RT for a towncar not including the 20% gratuity---thus the $96 from Happy Limo which includes the gratuity). Midnight limo also has a website www.midnightlimousine.com.

I also found a quote I had received from Tiffany Towncar for $97.75 which was the trip and tip also. I have heard good things about Tiffany also...but am going with Happy Limo at this time. I was very impressed with how fast Happy Limo responded to my emails and questions. The Tiffany quote is using a $5 coupon code I had found in a link on www.mousesavers.com.

Hope this info helps!

we've always been happy with mears (used them on every trip to the world so far except 2). this trip we are trying FLTours because of the grocery stop.

for two people, i really think mears is the way to go.

I have used Mears twice. The first trip was OK. The second was about 11 pm at night and we TOURED! They had us stop at 3 off site hotels before WDW and then I was the last stop. NEVER AGAIN! It was midnight and I wanted to go to bed!

I'll throw in another thumbs down for Mears and thumbs up for Happy Limo.
We used to use Mears before we knew any better, and we thought wasting time stopping at multiple resorts before finally getting to ours was the norm. It's like how the line you get in at the grocery store is always the slowest...somehow, our hotel was always last.
Once hubby and I learned about towncars, that was it! Mears is a total cattle call, and I hate being herded in with a bunch of strangers, especially after getting off a plane where I've endured over two hours of a similar situation. We use Happy Limo, and they are always on time and have given us great service. A towncar is definitely the way to go.

Ducklite echoed our feelings of Mears exactly. Once was enough for us. One tip if you do decide to use them, tell them your flight leaves an hour earlier. We barely made our flight! My dh does not care how much more a towncar costs (which in the scheme of things is not that much) His feelings are that we deserve stress free transfers on our vacaton.

Another down for Mears. If by chance others for your hotel are on the bus then you all get off and get in line to check-in together at the hotel. The first and only time we did Mears we just had carry-ons and were really glad because we had a bus of people going to our hotel and while they were waiting for their luggage out of the bottom, we were checking in.:D
Just another 2 cents.
Since then we have either rented a car for about the same price or towncar service.

We have always used Tiffanytown car service, and never had any problems. I have read alot of favorable things about Happy Limo- I looked at their website and was wondering about the extra $9.00 charge for Magic Kingdom resorts. Can anyone explain this? What exactly is it for?

I saw the same $9 charge for Midnight Limo...it states if you provide a copy of your reservation they won't charge. I don't know if Happy would do the same. I got the flat $96 including all charges, gratuity, etc for round trip.

Is midnight limo new? I have not heard of that company before.

The only word of advice I would give you is check out each company and ask this board who has used and experience. I seem to recall some bad press about happy limo last year.

I have used Tiffany Towncars and Yourride. Tiffany went through some growing pains and had some bumps in service. The ride was fine, but I never had the same driver that dropped me off pick me up.

I switched to yourride last year as they were a sponsor on the board. I am thrilled with their service. I have had the same drive on all of my trips and I always request him. It is so nice to see a familiar face at the airport. Excellant service is always about the driver.

And Mears, well I went on a very long tour with them once. I was able to see a few offsite hotels as well as quite a few of the Disney hotels. It took about 2 hours to get to my hotel. I swore NEVER again. Now, it is always a towncar, even if I am traveling solo. It is one of th few indulgences that I will not give up. I look at it this way, Ihave spent more on dinner than the difference between mears and a solo towncar. I also feel safer traveling alone (and with my hubby) especially when we arrive late at night.

Good luck with your decision!

I only used the quote from Midnight limo to get the rate down at Happy Limo...my original Happy limo quote was $112 (not including tip). The Midnight quote was $80 (plus 20% gratuity....thus $96). I emailed Happy Limo who we are using and they matched the price. I haven't heard of Midnight limo but used their low quote to get the company I wanted.

Its best to simply quote Colonel Kurtz from "Apocalypse Now" regarding the Mears Shuttle...

"the horror... the horror...."
