Is side B at MCO open yet for car rentals or is everything still on side A? We are renting from National.

Both sides have been open since July. National is on both sides and fully operational. I used them two weeks ago on the B side.

Is the car rental situation better at MCO? As in if you reserve a car they will have one there for you when you arrive?

National had full aisles on B side when I was there 10/13. 10-12 cars in the Emerald Aisle, about the same in the Executive Aisle and probably 20 or so in the Minivan aisle. I stopped at the desk to have them verify my CC and there were two employees doing nothing. One guy out in the garage pointing people to where they need to go to choose.

I haven't had that problem at MCO but rental cars are never "reserved"; you're just giving them an idea of how many cars they'll need and locking in the price. I've only once had an issue where every company was out of cars, but it *can* happen. Most of the time they have enough though.

My September and October Alamo experiences were great and what I consider normal. Lots of cars and employees. Much different than prior reopening experiences. So glad B is back open.

B is open, but Visitor Toll Pass can only be picked up on A side, at least in September that’s what it was like. I hope they change that. I didn’t bother picking up the pass because I only had Rental for a couple days. Took non-toll roads to get to my resort. Gave my friend a heads up so she could pick up the toll pass before getting luggage & car on B side.

That's the way it was two weeks ago when I was there as well. VTP can only picked up on A side. I brought my IPass from home so that didn't bother me. Now that all EZPass compatible transponders work everywhere in FL the VTP isn't as useful to me.

What is A side and B side with regards to Hertz rentals? Is there more than one Hertz locations in MCO? If you are renting a car do you need to make sure you go to one or the other?

Look at the A/B terminal map from the airport website https://www.orlandoairports.net/getting-around-mco/. The original terminal building is divided into an A side and a B side. When you get off the plane, you’ll be at an”airside” mini-terminal and will have to take a little train to the main building. Depending on which airline you fly, you’ll arrive on either side, with separate baggage claim on each side. The rental car agencies also have locations on both sides. When you reserve a car with them, they want to know your arriving flight information so they can have your car on the correct side based on which airline you’re using.

There is now a terminal C completely separate from A/B, and the rental car agencies have locations there, too.
