DH and I need to rent a car for our next trip.
We are considering using ALAMO, as they are offering the best prices at this point for the type of car we are looking for.
Are they located on site now? I remember in 1992 that we took a shuttle of some sort to the rental place.
How does the check in and car selection work?
We are going to have an early flight... Are there usually long lines on Saturday mornings (we should be there by 10:30)
How does the car return process work?
Thanks so much!! :hourglass

Yes Alamo is onsite, however, you still need to take a shuttle from the terminal to baggage claim and transportation (basically a monorail type shuttle) and the Alamo counter is crowded at ANY TIME of day. Our last visit in May DH waited in line for 55 minutes and says we will NOT rent from Alamo again even if other companies are a bit more. The return is your basic drive to rental car return, and someone comes by to check car in. We usually drop our checked bags at curbside checkin first and that way after we return the car we've only got our carryons to deal with. I think we're going with National for our trip in December....

Thanks for the replys!
We have never rented a car from the airport yet! Usually we stay onsite and take the Disney Transportation! :flower:

We has a great experience w/Alamo at MCO last Dec.

We arrived a little before you at about 9:30-9:45. While there was a long line, it moved pretty quickly. It is located on site, we got our info and went upstairs to the parking garage where the cars are.

You basically pick out your own car, they are separated by class, you jump in and go. It was so easy, I wouldn't hesitate to do it again.

Last year we were able to get a free upgrade coupon from the entertainment book, that we were able to use with our already discounted price. Look into it!

just used Alamo in May. We arrived at about 9:30 am on a Thur. and there was no one in line. I'm sure it's crowded a lot of the time.

I also used Alamo in May and was very pleased with the service and the car.

Here's a tip: join Alamo's Quicksilver Club. It's free, though you have to purport to be a business. Quicksilver members can bypass the line and go straight to the garage.

Im thinking about joining Quicksilver and "purporting" to be a business. Would it be Alamo's ecuvilant of Nationals Emeralds Eisle?

Yes, Quicksilver is somewhat similar to the Emerald Club.

Renting with a Quicksilver ressie is not quite as easy as going to the Emerald Isle, but it's a lot better than a normal counter ressie. You can bypass the counter and go straight to the garage, and check in at the counter in the garage, which usually has no line at all.

OK! I could never figure out what those desks were for! No ones ever in there!
