Question:

I am picking my dad up on Friday. He is flying in on Air Tran. I wanted to go to the United ticket counter to make a change to my mom's flight for later this month (we are both flying to San Francisco via United, but from different airports & the tickets were charged on my card, so she can't present it when she checks in - I need to get that fixed at the ticket counter).

My question is this - Can I park, go to the United ticket counter & do my thing, then meet my dad? One airline is side A & the other is B, but I will not be going past security, so can i do this?

Thanks for your help. :D

So I can park the car, and walk up to the United ticket counter to make the needed change to the ressie, and then walk over to the other side of the terminal to get to my dad?

That is right. You can wait outside security in the hallways were people getting off the tram exit.

I am not understanding what you need to change on your mother's reservation. As long as her reservation shows her name, then she will NOT need to present the credit card at check in. The only thing she will need to present is identification. JI have booked numerous tickets for family members using my credit card for them to come visit me and the only documentation required for them to check in is their driver's license or state issued ID card.

United told me that b/c the card was paid for by me, but in her name, they will ask to see the credit card when she checks in, unless I tell them in person not to do this. Apparently this is to make sure that she did not steal my card and use it to buy a plane ticket.

This is news to me. I have never heard of such a requirement, and have booked plenty tickets for friends/family using my charge card. I would call and get a second opinion before waiting in the LONG ticket counter lines at MCO. Per the UAL website

What documentation do I need to check in?
It is recommended that you carry a government issued form of identification. Customers traveling on international flights must have a valid passport.
