It looks like we are going to be in McAllen TX this year for Thanksgiving (staying in a hotel - no family), and I was just wondering if anybody here who is familiar with the area might know which restaurant would have the best Thanksgiving meal (or anybody who is familiar with the restaurants that are in the area which would also be in other areas).

The 2 restaurants that come to mind in that area that might have a Thnk. day meal would be the Golden Corral or Furrs. Is anybody who is familiar with McAllen or either of these restaurants know if they have anything special that day (and if so, which one would have better thanksgiving type food).
Or would you know of another restaurant located nearby that would offer something?

I suppose if worse comes to worse we could always pull a "Christmas Story" and eat at a Chinese restaurant. :rotfl:

Thanks

McAllen? Wow, I don't know.

Have you thought about driving into Brownsville or South Padre Island? I'm not sure how far those are though.

My mom is from that area. (Actually Pharr-San Juan-Alamo). Furr's is a cafeteria like Luby's, so they will surely have turkey, etc. Golden corral is an all you can eat buffet with several different genres of food. As far as quality, they're very similar with Golden Corral having a slight edge. Old people loooooooooove Furr's.

Have fun in the Valley! You can probably pick up some oranges and tangerines by that time.
