MB for FP+ without park entry

Wondered if anyone had verified recently that you could use a family member's magic band for their FP+ if they will not enter the park that day - it seems to have been ok in the past. One family member (with an AP) changed their plans recently and will not be coming on our upcoming trip, but has FP+ selections for each day of our trip. Not sure if we'll need it but just wondered.

I used my husband's FPs in November. His MB was not scanned into the park, but the FPs on it worked. Don't know about anything more recent than that - we're usually all available to use our FPs....
