I could swear that when the MBs were first released AP holders could go and switch their paper APs for MBs. I think there was a place set up in Epcot... maybe last May?

Did that actually happen, and can any of those MBs be used for FP+ selections? Maybe I a going crazy. :joker:

I'm not sure about that... but I do know there's something happening for AP holders and the MB thing in 'Fall 2014' from what I've seen and heard online.

I think you are remembering the RFID AP's. There was a set up in the Odyssey center near Mexico to exchange a regular AP to an RFID card that works with the new technology. I did this in May. As far as I know, you can only select FP+ if you are staying at an onsite hotel. MB are still tied to rooms, not tickets.

1- Nope.

2- The situation was that AP holders could switch their "paper" AP's to plastic RFID AP's.

3- Nope.

It is possible now to get your annual pass on a Magic Band...If you're staying at a Disney hotel, you will get MB, and you can then link your annual pass to the MB. We've done this twice already, and have another set for a short trip next week.:thumbsup2

You have to stay in a Disney hotel to get a MB and once an AP is linked to an active MB, it can be used to make FP+ selections even after the Disney stay.

Haha, ok RFID tickets makes sense. I think that maybe there were MBs on display at that time and I remember seeing pictures of them.

I guess I am going crazy.:p

ETA: I did just get magic bands for a trip coming up in a few weeks. My AP is linked and ready to go... I hope.

It is still limited. My November trip and January trip only give me a 2-3 week window for each trip. I cannot select FP+ for further dates.

Correct, they had MB in cases for display :)

Not the case for me. Have AP and got MB for December stay. I am now able to make selections 60 days into the future of current date.

No it is not. I guess you didn't know that you are trying to correct the person that has been using FP+ since July. ;). My APs have been linked since the beginning of August and my family visits the parks multiple times per week using FP+. I have used this system for over 100 park days without any limitations other than the 7 day concurrent holding limit.

I had a 5 day stay earlier this month. With my AP linked to my MagicBand, I can book FP+ anytime in a rolling 60 day window from the current date.

Yikes. I was conversing on a board about my experience, I had no intention of starting some argument. I only said that because based on my experience I have a 2 week window past my hotel stay, and that post sounded like it was stating that after a stay you could book indefinitely into the future, not just a couple of month period. I am going with my mom who does not have an AP so maybe I am limited to a couple of weeks due to that. But hey, I apologize if you think I was correcting you. I thought I was just expanding on a conversation.

Okay first off those cakes in your signature are AMAZINGLY cute. :)

We are Annual Passholders. On our (on-site) trip last May, we were able to get the hard plastic RFID-enabled AP cards. They're about the size and thickness of a credit card.

We stayed onsite again a few weeks ago. We were sent MagicBands a month ahead of time, and I was able to attach our APs to them on the website with (relatively) few problems.

What you are really doing is attaching your AP to your MyMagic profile (each of our family members has a profile with our AP attached to it now), and I had to do that by entering each person's Passholder number on the site.

Separately, MagicBands were shipped, each attached to a person in the family. So MagicBand is attached to Profile the same as an AP (or even a length of stay pass, whatever) is attached to Profile. Now that we have MagicBands, we can continue using them for park admission even if we aren't staying onsite, since they just reference our profile which references our APs.

If you have no plans to stay onsite, I believe you'll have to continue using the card. At one point I heard they were going to be "selling" MagicBands for AP and offsite guests if they wanted one, but all I saw in the stores when we were there was MagicBand accessories so I don't think that's true at this time.

ETA: Regarding the discussion about how many days you can book Fast Pass + times - we were there for 9 days and we booked for all of them, in advance. That could have been because we were onsite guests. Right now, if I look to see what dates I can pick additional Fast Pass + for, it only goes 60 days out (3/18 as of today). I do not know, if you are not onsite, what the rules are for picking passes, but the 7 day limit sounds reasonable to me, if true.

I hadn't even noticed, OP did you make those cakes yourself?? If you could send one down for my birthday next week that would be fabulous! lol :p
