Okay...don't ask me why, :confused3 but DS has an inquiring mind and wants to know, so...

He thinks that WDW has the best scrambled eggs of anywhere he's eaten... :rolleyes1 (Personally, I can't tell much of a difference.) Anyway, he wants to know what they do to make them so good. Anyone got any ideas?

I asked if he meant any particular location and he said no, they are all good, just that the buffets sometimes are cold. So, all you DISsers who know WDW like the backs of your hands...help????

How does WDW make their scrambled eggs? Do they use fresh or reconstituted eggs? Add water or milk or even cream? What seasonings?

Told ya...probably the strangest dining questiong you've seen...

I really appreciate your help with this one!! :grouphug:

I KNOW EXACTLY WHAT HE MEANS!!! Sorry, I don't have the answer for you, but I have wondered the same thing myself. The eggs are very rich tasting, so I am sure whatever they do to them it is NOT healthy, LOL.

Just a side note...I found out recently that a lot of breakfast places...IHOP specifically... "stretch" their eggs with a little bit of pancake batter. This is important to know if you are on a low carb diet or allergic to gluten or whatever. I am not saying this is the case at WDW, just commenting that restaurants can put some wacky stuff in their eggs.

Ok, I tried to help you out and looked through the recipes at allearsnet, but no scrambled eggs! I don't eat eggs, so I have no idea! DH likes scrambled eggs that are tossed and flipped frequently so they get airy and fluffy, maybe that's it.

Thanks both of you!

wildernesslodgelover...that is a great bit of info for me...thanks! I am diabetic and have to watch the carbs...so I'll keep that in mind. I guess it's a good thing I don't eat eggs out very often.

Just a guess from someone who likes to cook....butter?? They probably cook them in real butter, rather than oil. Yum.

I would have to agree about the use of real butter. Thats the only thing I can think of.

DH calles me a weirdo because I think they have the best scrambled eggs too! I will not eat them anywhere but WDW!!!!!!!!!!

I've seen them cooking eggs at CBR in the food court and they were pouring out the egg mixture from a prepackaged container, I don't know if they still do it that way but they definately used to. ;)

As far as I know this is true. The last time I was there I asked about the eggs because I will eat fake eggs but not real (the fake have a smoother texture to me and I have a condition called 'oral textural dysfunction' which affects how I eat by the texture and tempurature of food so I notice the small things...LOL weird I know!) and the CM told me it was a product called "egg beaters" which they used to make the scrambled eggs!

I wouldn't be surprised if they were Egg Beaters---the eggs at WDW taste exactly like the Egg Beaters I use at home, IMHO. :) And after eating them, I can't make scrambled eggs with real eggs anymore because I prefer the EB. :rotfl:

I doubt it is egg beaters...I use them at home cuz I am always trying to cut some fat where I can (egg beaters are fat free)...and they do NOT taste like the yummy eggs at WDW! If it *is* egg beaters, then they must add something decadent to them.

I don't think they are egg beaters either...I had heard about egg beaters before going to America and we bought some whilst staying off-site and I thought they were horrible!!

We had breakfast once at Tusker House at Animal Kingdom and I have to tell you, those scrambled eggs were the BEST i've had in a long time! They were so scrumptious...and you know, there his generally one ingredient that makes most things taste scrumptious...Butter :teeth: They probably use heaps of it!

Of course, those eggs could be spiked with some Disney magical ingredient we know nothing about... ;) I'd love to know too!

I am very sensitive to greasy eggs...I won't eat them...and I never detected a lot of grease in them. DH seems to think they are powdered eggs.

I think they are good, but wish they would cook them a little longer. I also don't like runny eggs....yes I am a bit weird about my eggs.

I never thought this question would generate such discussion...honestly thought ya'll would laugh at it. :rotfl:

Given the discussion so far, I'm gonna pick Col. Mustard in the library with the...oh, sorry not enough coffee yet this morning...

No, I'm wondering if WDW doesn't use the egg beaters or those powdered reconstituted eggs and then just cook 'em up in all that yummy butter? :confused3 I mean, I know when I cook eggs in butter...or anything else...it always tastes better. But, I just don't know about the egg beaters part yet...when I make them at home or have requested them at restaurant other than WDW, they just don't seem quite as fluffy as WDW scrambled eggs. :scratchin

If I must, I'll ask every location we eat on my July trip. You know...for the purpose of scientific research. ::yes::

They taste like normal eggs to me. I cannot tell a difference between my eggs and theirs so I'm pretty sure it's real eggs - maybe just beaten ahead of time and packaged like egg beaters are? They definitely do not taste like egg beaters because I CANNOT STAND egg beaters and would have known instantly if they were. YUCK!

I beat my eggs very well - I can tell when they're done when it feels like I a whisking water and I feel so "resistance" - then I add 1 tsp of cream for every egg (can use water or milk, half and half etc) salt and pepper and fry on a pan heated med/low - in butter - I use a "spoonula" and try and keep the eggs in big pieces - they stay nice and fluffy that way.

My husband on the other hand makes HANDS DOWN the worst eggs I have ever had in my life. He add nothing to his eggs - cooks in a pan that's too hot and shoves them around like he's cooking ground beef. They're tough and nasty - good thing I don't let him cook often - :lmao: :lmao:

MQuara...I like your method for real eggs...it's very close to my own at home.

Dsis and I were talking last night and she thinks that WDW restaurants probably use some kind of restaurant quality pasturized egg product similar to egg beaters...a health issue for food prep is her guess, which makes sense. But, honestly, I still don't have a clue and I bet even if I ask every place in WDW, I'd get a different answer. Hum? Maybe I'll send an email first and inquire.

Thanks for everyone's thoughts on this.

If you find out, let us know. I really don't think it's Egg Beaters. I really dislike Egg Beaters plain, but like Disney's scrambled eggs. Either they add something yummy to it, or it's something else.

A little OT, but I was having breakfast one time at a local chain restaurant (don't want to say the name - let's just call it "P. A.'s Not in the City Place"), and the scrambled eggs were delicious - fluffy, moist, flavorful. After enjoying the heck out of them, I had to ask the server how the chef prepared them. But nothing prepared me for her response. She said, and I quote, "Oh, honey, it ain't nothing - they just come right outta the bag like that, and all we have to do is nuke 'em and plate 'em". Evidently, there's a factory somewhere scrambling eggs and prebagging them for restaurant use. I shudder to think . . .

And that was the last time I ordered scrambled eggs at a restaurant where I couldn't see the grill cook crack the shells . . . .

:sad2: I shudder to think about my eggs not coming from a real chicken...at least I know the egg beaters started the same place...just got all jazzed up for health reasons.

I promise if I do find the answer to this question I will share it with everyone!

We LOVE WDW scrambled eggs too!!! DD11 is SO looking forward to eggs in the castle ... that's all she wants ... all that money for some scrambled eggs!!! :confused3
