DH has a seminar late July in Orlando. Actually, the week after our 16th wedding anniversary. He told me that if I wanted to go we could make it an anniversary celebration---just the 2 of us at WDW. He told me to make ressies wherever I wanted to stay. We would be there for 5days/4 nights. Sounds great, doesn't it?!?!?!?!?
Now that he has actually said that we could go, I really am beginning to feel guilty about going. We have taken weekend trips without the kids, but nothing major like going to WDW!!!! I am so confused. The kids are DD/13, DS/7 and DD/5 and they have been to WDW each summer for the past 5 years.
Can you please offer me your opinions and what you would do in my situation? I know I have read previous posts about some of you in this same situation. Thanks everyone!!!!!!

GO...if you can get time with someone you love, in a place like WDW...GO!!!!!! The kids will go again, but your chances of getting another opportunity might not come up for a while again. There are so many adult things you can take advantage of. WDW is a great place...enjoy the trip, have a great anniversary, and GO!!!!!

Go and don't feel remorse! I would get busy with ressies ASAP though! It might be late to stay "anywhere you want to"!

Actually, I'd take the kids too. He's going to be busy with the seminar and that'll leave you alone a lot of the time.
I'd take a private weekend alone when you get to spend time with him.

My kids would disown me if I did that. I think I'd go for the romantic getaway though.:)

No brainer...GO!!!!! ;)

Couple time is still very important even after you become parents. Where you choose to spend that time is your choice, not the kids. They obviously are not deprived of vacations...especially Disney vacations. Most kids cant even imagine going to WDW 5x in the past 5 years. There is no reason you shouldnt take a trip you want with your DH.

We went last year, to WDW for 1 night and then on a 3 night cruise. Our kids were 2 & 5 and this was the first trip(besides 1 night away) we had been on alone since our honeymoon, 7 years earlier. Did I think about the kids and miss them, sure. Did it ruin my trip? No way! It made it better. I thougt of stuff they would like for when we go back and we got to do all the stuff we never could do with the kids(Jellyrolls, relax on the beach, etc...), and we appreciated it so much! Personally, I wouldnt do it alone every time, but I see nothing wrong with it once in a while.

Since your kids have already been several times, I would go and recharge the marriage!!!

The happiest kids are those with happy parents who have a stable/solid marriage.

This trip (even though they are not along) will be as much for them as it is for you and your DH!!!

Have fun.

I also think you should go, and leave the kids at home (with a grandparent, or whatever child care plan you have). Your kids have already been to WDW a lot more times than some people get to go in a lifetime.

It sounds to me like your DH is wanting this to be a trip for the two of you? He didn't say "let's all go", did he? So I think it would be an insult to him to not to jump at the chance for some time for just the two of you!

Did he really say you could make ressies anywhere? Honey, I'd be ALL over that!!!

WDW is NOT just for families. It's a wonderful, fun, romantic spot for couples too!

Hope you have a great time!

Go without them. We honeymooned at WL and didn't take my then 9-year-old DS (previous marraige) with us. We went back and forth about it, but he had a great time with his grandparents while we were gone and Disney was an entirely different experience when it was just the two of us. He'd been several times before, has been several times since, and will continue to go as long as I'm able to take him -- and he almost never gets a week alone with my parents, which he loved. I've never once heard him complain about missing out on the trip.

My husband and I just returned from 4 nights at POR. We had a wonderful time, without the kids, and cant wait to go again! It felt a bit strange at first but we quickly got over it. This trip was very different from the others because our kids werent with us, we had no idea mk could BE so much fun!!!! just kidding! What a different perspective of the park without them though, very very relaxing and very enjoyable. And we didnt eat fast food once during our stay!

Go! You will have a great time and see it all from a completely different perspective. DH and I have gone twice without the kids. My daughter loves to tell me which attractions I need to go on.

Hear, hear! Well said!!! Go for it!

I'm in the same situation - Dh has a conference in October. We booked a 10 day August trip with kids so as not to have any remorse. Funny thing is when we told them only one of the three was excited. The other two kind of went ho hum (youngest 9 and oldest 12). So I said well cool, then you all won't mind when I go alone with Daddy in October for a long weekend. They were like "WHAAT, you can't do that!". Well when DH goes just about every other year he never goes in the parks without us, so we are just going to fib and say we didn't do much park time. Yes DH will be in conference and I'm looking forward to slowly working my way around every shop in World Showcase without my beautiful, loving, whiney children! I figure it will be different trip, we will have Boddington at the Rose & Crown, eat at California Grille and get in some vacation hanky panky!

My kids are 16 and 14 and I feel time is "running out" as far as taking them to WDW before they either get too old or have other plans so I would have to lean towards you going but taking the kids.
