I'm going to ask it anyway!

Because of the new airline restrictions, we cannot take sunscreen in our carry on bags.
We will be using ME to get to the World and from what I understand, we will not have access to our luggage for a few hours after check in.
In the interim, what do we do for sunscreen? Do we have to buy a bottle or can we access our luggage at some point before we go outside?
I'm a fair redhead. I'll be crispy in about 20 minutes! lol

Can we take our luggage onto the busses ourselves and take out the sunscreen at the airport?

Thanks for the help!!:flower3:

Can't you buy a travel size? It was my understanding that you can bring just about anything in its original container if it is 3 ounces or less. There is a brand out there that is a big bottle and a little travel size attatched. I think it's coppertone because it's pink and the little bottle is blue.

Couldn't you buy some sunscreen when you get there? I'm sure they sell it in the airport.

You can either take a small travel size bottle - 3 oz limit in a ziploc bag or you can bring your bags to the bus. If you pick up your bags you will have them with you on the bus and checking in. If your room is not ready you'll have to leave them at the luggage room and pick them up later. If you do decide to pick up your bags you don't put the yellow magical express tags on them.

sunscreen! Didn't know there was such a thing!
I guess if we all take one in our carry-on bag we'd be fine til the room was ready and we could access our luggage.
I was hoping to avoid having to pay a lot for a bottle we'd use once at the resort. I can only imagine what it might cost!
Thanks everyone!:thumbsup2 I'll keep my eye out for the Coppertone travel sized bottles.

I've only seen the Coppertone travel sized bottles in the U.S. (that's where we buy ours since we live in a border city). Sunscreen at Disney isn't that expensive - a bottle of 4oz. Coppertone Water Baby is approx. $11.00. Sure that's a few dollars more than at Target, but if you can't access your sunscreen any other way, then you at least know you can pick it up onsite. We like having a smaller bottle as bigger bottles are cumbersome.

Good luck, Tina :)

The easiest way is to buy a small bottle of sun screen at your resort. It'll be 5 or 6 dollars -- a small price to pay, for all the ease.

What I do, is take an empty bottle of stuff I have already used, and put sunscreen in it.

Last year I was able to get a Pharma Plus store brand travel size bottle. Once you have the travel size bottle you can top it up from the larger bottle for future trips.

Not sure if it's still available, but last year I was able to buy a bottle of Hawaiian Tropic sunscreen that came with a bonus size bottle (60ml). I was able to pack the regular size with my luggage and carry-on the 60ml size bonus :)

I bought sunscreen in a towellette form to keep in my diaper bag last summer. Just buy a pack of those to tide you over till you get your luggage.

As I mentioned in my response, the small bottles are 10-11, and not 5 or 6. I've never seen the smaller, travel sized bottles that we've discussed up above.

This may be a budget crunch item for some families, so I wouldn't want anyone thinking that sunscreen is much cheaper than it actually is at the parks or resorts (they pretty much all sell the exact same brands and sizes, although I did see a few different selections at the Polynesian one time).

Happy vacationing, Tiger

We took sample packets with us in our carry on last year. It would have worked perfect except DD had a reaction and had rosy rashy cheeks for three days:sad2: . I like the idea of filling up a smaller bottle, are there any issues with that at security since it is not labelled?

Wal-Mart did carry a brand (which one I don't remember) that looked to be under the travel restriction size. I didn't buy it only because I didn't want to test the security systems in Detroit. I opted to go through security and get walloped at their Snack and Ammenities counter.

- less hassle but more money.

OPTION: If you plan on going to one of the parks before you receive your luggage, maybe plan on a park strategy that includes more indoor venues.
ex - go to Fantasyland in MK and most rides are indoors or at least have some shade from the sun.

Rexall had their brand of sunscreen in a small travel sized bottle last summer. It even had a hole at the top so you could clip it to your bag.

I also bought a travel sized bottle of Coppertone Waterbabies at WDW. It has a clip so I keep it attached to my bag when I'm touring the parks. Since the new airline rules, I buy the sample sunscreen bottles when I see them.

Just put some of your sunscreen from the big bottle into an old small bottle that you've got hanging around and put it in the ziploc. No need to buy new stuff when you can just pour your old stuff into a different bottle.

Doesn't every liquid have to have the original label?
It's a great idea to do that! just don't want to get it thrown out at the airport if it's not labelled.

do not think that security is going to check that you have sun screen in a shampoo bottle; just as long as it is a travel size bottle.

We flew from BUF to MCO last month. I bought 2 tubes of 100ml sunscreen from Walmart and had no problem taking them on the plane. S

3 oz is about 80ml so that's pretty close.
I'll keep my eye out for those.
Thanks!
