Maybe a ridiculous FP+ question related to parades

I see on the Disney site that there is a parade at 3pm (FOF at MK). Such a simple question that I assume I am missing some really obvious facts...

Why is my FP+ from 2:45 until 3:05 if the parade starts at 3?

Also, how many people generally fit into this FP+ viewing area, and is there any benefit to showing up either towards the start or the end of the FP+ window?

Until very, very recently, the parade did not start anywhere close to the FP viewing area. Thus it would be several minutes after the start of the parade before it reached the hub (the old viewing area).

I'd arrive sooner rather than later to secure your space. Especially if you have short kids who want to be at the front (curbside).

So what you're saying is that now the start is closer to the viewing area?

The FP viewing area appears to be moving to Town Square, and FoF begins by Splash, so it's closer to the end of the route.
