Maya Grill Breakfast will Close on 11/03/2011, And Peppermarket will become a Buffet now instead of it's current offerings. The servers from Maya's will be transferred to Peppermarket to offer a Breakfast and Lunch and dinner Buffet.
I have heard it's because of lack of buisness in Both restaurants. Food Services at Coronado Springs and Mexico Epcot are Operated and Owned by Palmas Services, and not By Disney.

Hmmm...interesting. I've never tried Maya Grill, but I really liked Pepper Market quite a bit. I know it confused a lot of people due to the atypical set-up and ordering system (and it also seemed to generate a lot of tipping controversy), but I'll be sad to see it switch. I hope they keep some of the variety in what they offer, and not revert to same-old buffet stuff...

ah but the big question is, if Pepper Market is a buffet is it TS or CS on the dining plan?

hmmm....I'm a little bummed. This may mess up our dining plans for our trip because we don't like buffets very much. We were looking forward to visiting Pepper Market as it is now (with the different made to order stations).

I too wonder what will be offered in the buffet and what type of service it will be (CS or TS). If it becomes TS, that may be sort of bad as that doesn't leave much for CS choices.

I can't imagine this actually being true...what is your source? My Feb trip is booked at CSR and a part of why I chose the resort was because of Pepper Market being a CS that is open early in the morning and late into the night. If they turned PM into a TS that would be absolutely awful, maybe even enough to make me switch resorts. Or if they stopped accepting the DDP.

Well My source is true, she's a server there. Pepper Market Will be a TS point as all othe Buffets on Property. I am a Server elsewhere on Property

I'm trying to figure this out.

MG will only be open in the evening for TS?

PM will change to the other CS resort type places?

When?

I will be anxious to see how this pans out.
I hope some of our Disboard friends staying at Corondo Springs and eating at either of these places after 12/4 give us an update. I have PM on my list of QS locations to visit on our trip coming up on 12/16.

If the issue is slow business, I can't imagine how it would increase the number of patrons to change both dining options at this moderate resort to TS.

That just doesn't make sense to me as it appears that anyone who wants a normal hot affordable CS meal will be out of luck. OR are they making changes to Cafe Rix as well to compensate?

If this is the case I could see why a family would chose a different resort with a normal CS choice. And if I were there just on business, a buffet or an expensive TS would not be ideal either. Buffets do not appeal to everyone and TS meals are time consuming and are not always the norm when traveling. Just my opinion.

They will Have Quick foods at there Newer Bakery/store that will count as a CS point. Pepper MArket will Change to a TS Restaurant doing a Full Buffet All day 3 meals. Maya Grill will be only open for Dinner only as a signature Restaurant also a TS . Remember Disney does NOT own these restaurants at Coronado Springs, Palmas Services does. They also Own the Food and Beverage areas of Mexico Epcot.

What kind of food choices do you anticipate them serving on the buffet?

What the OP is saying appears to be that Maya Grill (TS) will be open only for dinner, and Pepper Market will change to a TS buffet for all other meals.

Interesting if it does happen as it will leave Coronado Springs with no counter service except for the Rix cafe and the snack bar at the pool. Maybe a good move for the conventioners that stay there but not for WDW guests, especially those on the dining plan.

I suppose anyone staying there after December 4 will have to confirm.

This will never happen. The resort needs more than Cafe Rix for a CS location. I did read on another site that the Maya Grill will be getting a new menu at the end of the month (December).

I'm love CSR but I'm not sure I would stay at a resort with no CS options other than sandwiches at the bakery. If it's true I don't think this is a good idea at all.

My guess is Pepper Market couldn't continue to profitably operate as a CS restaurant for guests on the dining plan. I suspect the choice was either substantially "dumb down" the offerings, drop the dining plan or change to a TS restaurant.

Pepper Market was more then a CS meal but less then a TS meal. The DDP doesn't work for restaurants which are a hybrid.

When the current dining plan first started Pepper Market tried to have some restrictions such as only allowing certain desserts. Being the only restaurant with some restrictions had "issues".

edited to add--I wish Pepper Market would have gone to a non-buffet TS restaurant. Not on the dining plan... I might otherwise share an entree. Eat less. Spend a little less.

I saw TDC Nala's post on the DDP board first and posted there, but I'll post the same question here. Is it even possible for the change to occur 12/4? Doesn't the contract this company has with WDW run through the end of the year? I have a hard time believing they could make this kind of change before the new contract takes effect.

And it's a bad idea anyway. A moderate resort needs a substantial counter service option, and even an expanded Cafe Rix won't be adequate to handle the need. Someone mentioned that the convention business might prefer a TS restaurant. I disagree. Having attended many conventions and seminars in my working career, if lunch isn't provided as part of the meeting, then I'm looking for a quick option because the lunch break isn't that long.

I agree with you on that point. It doesn't make any sense.

This sure makes one thing make sense to me...I can book breakfast anywhere I wish for our week stay but not breakfast at Maya Grill.

We stay the 11th to the 17th of Dec & there are no breakfast times at all. When I booked way way back there were breakfast times available & I had booked one. However, as plans changed I canceled it & have never been able to find another time to book.

I had even looked at other dates & other than times in Nov there were none available. Now it makes sense...no more breakfasts there.

My memory, not 100% sure, is CRT changed to 2 credits in the middle of the year.

The DDP brochure says restaurants are subject to change.

I'm also surprised about the 12/4 date. Could the restaurant be trying to negotiate better terms with Disney for the DDP in 2012?

edited to add An efficient buffet might offer quicker service then a CS restaurant. A good "grab and go" section of Rix (or the gift shop) might better service conventioneers who don't want to wait for CS or a TS buffet.
