I know alot of you know a bunch about timeshares, maybe you can help me. My friend has a coworker who is almost giving away his timeshare which he purchased in 2000. This is the name of the place. It is a red week 2 bedrooms, I think on a point system affiliated with rci, but there is also a page of direct exchanges. She gave me all the literature and is asking me if she should go for this. He paid 15,800 for it and couldnt resell for much less so I guess he wants a friend to have it...he inherited it or something. If anyone has any advice it would be appreciated..thanks!

Your friend will have to pay to join and post the question, but better than making a big long-term mistake.

I think the Mayan Palace has been favorably reviewed...most new owners would be buying into the Grand mayan next door (sister resorts). But it appears that all the 'Palaces' are highly regarded. The maintenance fees don't seem all that high either.
