Hey all. Just joined the boards and excited to be here. I'm a huge Disney fan as are my folks so we decided on Disney. Thankfully the fiance's cool with anything. I have a tight schedule in which to get a date. Basically, I'm in law school and have 1 week between spring and summer sessions or another week between summer and fall. So the question is, which week is better a week in May or a week in August. I'm worried about August because it's hurricane season, and that seems the most bust. We'd like a Sunday (and have tentatively scheduled Sunday, May 13th) so we can make it a weekend with everyone. But the week I have free the Sunday would be Mother's Day. Both of our parents are fine with that day. But is it obnoxious to have it that day? Should I wait till August? (Monday's been taken for my spot by a conference group). And also, would Mother's Day be insanely packed that weekend? Anyone have any suggestions or ideas. I'm first of my friends to have a big wedding so I'm nervious about getting this all planned and put together. I highly value any thoughts y'all may have. Thanks!

well, i see you live in florida so u should know about the august weather!! haha i went there in august to wdw and u really cant predict the sudden rain storms so if u r planning an outdoor wedding keep that in mind! plus it is really hot and sticky and your guests and you might enjoy it better in may...although its hot then too... o i dunno!!! :rotfl:

i don't see any problem with mother's day...you can do a little extra something special for the moms if you want

Heya, my fiance and I just booked our Disney wedding for Monday, May 14th 2007 (the Monday after Mother's Day). Initially we were concerned about having it so close to Mothers' Day ourselves, since many people would have to use that day to travel. After asking around within our friends and families, however, most people said they wouldn't have a problem with the wedding being so close to Mothers' Day so we went ahead and booked that date. We're trying to have a welcome/dessert party on Mother's Day and I'm thinking of doing something special to honor all the mothers, like a special dessert or little gift bags or something, so you could definitely do something similar.

Well I am booked for May 27 which that Monday is memorial day so I amhoping people will have that day off and will come down that Friday- The 27th is a Sunday too. So- I dunno. I would ask around and see what is best for everyone. I had the date July 7,2007 but everyone said it would be so hot and May some of my friends will be graduating around the 22 and will be able to come on the 27 and not have to worry about traveling again in July. One big boom for everyone and that is what they all prefered. It didn't matter to me. I just want to get married!

I'm another Monday bride for May! (May 21, 2007) I'm actually hitting a Canadian long weekend, Victoria Day. I hoped it would allow more people to come because it means less time off work. I wouldn't worry about being so close to Mother's Day, what a great place to celebrate! Maybe take mom for tea at the Grand Floridian or something. :)

I'm sure Mother's Day is fine! Your wedding is very important to your mothers, grandmothers, etc, so that would be great! We are getting married on Father's Day, at first i was worried, but then i realized, all of the "fathers" will be there, so oh well!

One thing that almost convinced us to do ours in August or September was the free dining plan that would have made it cheaper for us and all of our guests staying on property. We just didn't have enough planning time to make that work. I know there's no guarantee that they will offer free dining again next year, but it's something to think about...

That's really the only advantage I can think to waiting until August.

I have never been to WDW in May, but I do remember reading on another thread that the parks weren't necessarily busier for Mother's Day weekend, just that ADR's were hard to get. Unless you're doing an intimate and will want to make a large ADR for afterwords, I think you'd be ok.

My friends were just married a few weeks ago on Mother's Day. They did not have a problem w/ any guests not attending b/c of the date. I was in WDW for Mother's Day in 2005. I actually thought the crowd levels were relatively low, and we actually spent the entire Mother's Day in the MK. We never had to wait more than 20 min for any ride, and the weather was nice. Strange, but I was not complaining ;) Good luck in making your decision!

We were extremley lucky. We had our wedding just a few weeks ago and the weather was wonderful. I week later it was in the mid-90's and HOT! We had an outdoor wedding.

just came back from the honeymoon (may 28th-june4th)..everything was perfect and the crowds at the parks weren't that bad at all. I'd go may

Was that time during your honeymoon the gay/lesbian week in Disney? I had just read on another thread that gay/lesbian week is at the beginning of June. I am planning a May 27th wedding and now I am freaked out. I am hoping that it isn't really to much in May and we will be finished with wedding things in Disney by May 31st before they all arrive. So, was your honeymoon around that time?
