Hi Folks,

Not really going to do a trip report, but just wanted to let everyone know that SOARIN was a blast! Everyone needs to try it! We just came home last Saturday nite and all four of us are still experiencing withdrawl!

We stayed at the VWL for 4 nites, loved it so much called our guide to put us on a list in the event that any points open up and low and behold, they had just released 1000 points! We did the paperwork on Friday and are now the proud owners of 50 pts at VWL!!! Yeah!

The final three nights were spent at OKW and that was also a beautiful resort. The new slide was fun (had to try it out and make sure it was safe for the boys :rolleyes1 ). All in all, what a great trip. Depressed that its over, but now we have December to look forward to!!

Take care everyone!

Congratulations regarding the add-on, VWL neighbor!

We are within a week of our spring vacation there, I can't wait to see the Flowers Show and experience the new rides!

Bobbi :flower:

Hey, LucyLou congrats on your add on :cheer2: . Could you describe exactly what Soarin is? My DD isn't much on any of the thrill rides so I'd love a heads up on what to expect. Thanks.

It may not have been a trip report, but it sounded like a good trip! At our MN DIS meet last week, several folks talked about the Soarin' ride. One guy said he doesn't do thrill rides and gets motion sick easily, but he did Soarin' and loved it! He said the sensation isn't even as dramatic as most IMAX type shows. You aren't actually up in the air, it just feels like you are. I can hardly wait to do this one!

Actually, you are up in the air a bit. Rode this one at DL last year....our row of seats (the hanglider) probably rose about 15 ft. off the ground. The screen surrounds you literally...below, in front, and on sides of you. It is very cool! Little scary at first if you are afraid of hts.- soon becomes very relaxing.

Not sure if that was a literal or figurative statement.

The Soarin ride vehicle starts you on the ground, but you are lifted off the ground and suspended in front of the large video screen. Those in row 1 are probably a good 20-25' off of the ground, with no real way to even see the floor beneath you.

Still a great ride, though. DW, who can't do the likes of Star Tours due to motion sickness had no problems with Soarin.

I must have missunderstood his discription. At any rate, Soarin' sounds like a GREAT ride! :goodvibes

Haven't done the WDW version yet, but did the California Adventure version a couple of years ago. Still my all time favorite Disney attraction! If you are seated in the first row, you will be pretty high in the air, but those seated in the third row, are not that far off the ground. So if heights are really an issue, ask to be seated in the third row. Most people request the first, because you can't see anybody elses feet dangling in front of your head, in my opinion the best place to be seated in the attraction.

I was in the third row on the end and could see the floor below, maybe 10 feet. That was actually good for me because I don't like rides where your feet dangle and you feel like you could fall out (but I love 200 foot roller coasters, go figure). I debated about riding it and finally decided to give it a chance. It was comforting to me to see the floor below and the feet above.
