May repo cruisers - question for you

Have a question for you good people that recently did the May repositioning cruise:

Were there any rooms available to upgrade into once you got to the port??

We were the 1st people in the terminal and when we inquired we were told that the ship was sold out. No upgrades available.

i am surprised...there were rooms available in almost all categories up until 1-2 weeks before the cruise, when you could no longer buy a ticket....they must have upgraded all the guarantees into those rooms that last week.....

I'm sure a few rooms sail empty, so that if there are "issues" during the cruise (like your room gets flooded) that require relocating someone they need somewhere to relocate them TO.

Also, 2-4 weeks before the May repo sailed didn't they open it up to FL resident and CM discounts? That probably filled the ship FAST.

We asked about upgrades as soon as we got there (ignoring the sign that was placed on the counter stating 'no upgrades available'). We were told that there were none, and in fact there were people who had turned up to Port Canaveral with passports and cases packed ready to see if there were no shows/cancellations!

You have got to be kidding??

Security won't let you into the terminal if you aren't "on the list" (of passengers). And nowadays don't cruise lines have to turn over a list of passenger names to Homeland Security (or someone) 48-72 hours before the ships sets sail? I thought at the port ressies were a thing of the past....

How much were passes to the rainforest room? Were they difficult to get? Did they limit how many they sold?

Rain forest passes were $150 for the two weeks per person. $75 per week. No break in the cost at all for the longer cruise.

We had to constantly remind the spa staff to turn it on in the morning and then wait for things to warm up, or on a port day. The soap dispenser in the womans locker room didn't work the entire two weeks, and I reported it broken many times. The heavy aromatherapy steam room (the smallest one) had no scent in it for the entire two weeks.

That's funny, I couldn't go in the small steam room because the scent was on too high everytime I was in there. Which soap dispenser was broken? I never had a hard time washing my hands. And it also worked in the rain shower.

Some of our group are wondering if we still need to do a mini ressie rush on the day we board -- I'm hoping the answer to that question is "NO!!"

No they didn't sell out. In fact we got our passes 2 or 3 days into the cruise.

Before we arrived, DD kept talking about wanting to do the Rainforest room. Two weeks later, she never did find the time to go there. For that matter, I had planned on going and never did.

I never heard anyone mentioning it being crowded. With so many things going on and with so many activities to choose from, I'm not surprised.

There was only one time when I couldn't get a heated lounger as soon as I walked in. Otherwise it was 1/2 full most of the time to empty

That makes me feel better, we can just board whenever we get to the port and head straight to lunch.

I plan on forcing myself to make time at least one or two at-sea days for the rainforest room.
