May Photopass Swap - Update - All places are filled!

Anyone Canadians interested in a May Photopass swap with me?

I'm going May 9-20? Are your dates close to mine?

I don't mind arranging the swap. I'm not sure how all the payment works, but I do know up to 5 cards are added to one account and then we have 30 days to view/enhance our photos and order the CD.

Then, one person orders the CD(s) and makes copies for everyone else.

Any May DISers interested? Even splitting with one other person would be quite a savings.

We could do it . . . it just means you can't see your photos until after I return on the 20th and enter our codes.

Here's what samandryanmom wrote in another post:

"The people who are sharing all have different cards but only one photopass account. Here's where the timing issue comes in. You only have 30 days from the date that the first picture is taken on a photopass card to enter that number onto the website. Any later and the photos are gone. After you enter the first card number, you have 30 days to order your CD."

So, what that means for us is we have 30 days from your first photopass picture (May 1, I imagine). You must not enter your photopass code online. After I return on the 20th, I will add our photopass numbers online. Then, we will have 30 days (after I enter the codes online) to edit pictures and order the CD. I will copy it and send it to you.

So, it's not a speedy process by any means, but if you're game, we can do it!!
If there are no other takers, at least we can split the costs in half. Please let me know ASAP!!

Are there any other travellers going within our timeframe (May 1-20) who want to get in on this and lower costs even more for all involved???

Limit is 5 cards per account (5 groups).

Hello - DS and I are taking a quick trip down May 17-21 and I think this is something we would be interested in. So, if I am reading correctly I would go ahead and get my photopass card at the first opportunity, use it normally while we are there and then provide you with the card # when we get back? You would then 'link' it with yours and Haileys_mom card and then have one CD burned of all the pics? We would share in the cost of the CD and you would then fwd us our own pics??

Yes, that is correct!! Since your vacation ends one day after mine, we would both wait for you to come home and then I could input all 3 of our cards into one account. We would then have 30 days to edit our pictures and order a CD. Once I receive the CD, I would burn each of you copies and mail the CD out to you. Do you use paypal as this would be the easiest route for organizing payment.

Can I assume you are officially joining our happy May Photopass swap? By the way, I'd love to pick your brain about DVC sometime. We are considering it and would love to ask another Canadian some questions.

We have room for 2 more if any others want to join. Our group's travel dates span from May 1 - 21, so if your dates are within these dates and you want to join, just let me know!

Yes, that would be just fine. The whole process is not speedy by any means, so a few more days won't make much of a difference.

I'll wait for your PM and your Photopass number on May 26 (or 27).

Once I have all the Photopass numbers collected, I'll create our account and PM everyone the Photopass login information.

Remember to activate only one card as each account only takes 5 cards, and we are at 4 right now. Have great trips everyone!!!

Of course . . . you are #5!! and we are now a complete group!!

As you may realize, you will not get a chance to see your photos until we have all arrived home . . . that way we all get a full 30 days to edit our pictures.

Our dates span from May 1 - 26, so I will activate our account after May 26!

I've been reading through the photopass website, and my understanding is we can add several cards to one account.

If this is true, we may not have to limit ourselves to trying to keep all our pictures on one card.

Can anyone confirm the number of photopass cards that can be added?

FYI - when you guys see our pics don't be too shocked - this is just DS (5) and I going so no DH to roll his eyes at me and shake his head. I fully plan on participating in all the ear-wearing, face-painting, character greeting fun a 5 year old boy can handle and plan on having the pictures to prove it

This will let those people coming home from vacation soon add their card(s) to the account right away so that they can look through their photos and start editing them. I'm almost positive that you can add as many cards to the account as you want, but I've posted a thread in the "Theme Park Strategies" forum to verify this. After our trip in December we registered 7 cards.

The one rule that everyone needs to keep in mind is that a PhotoPass card can only be registered on one site. So don't register the card with any other PhotoPass account other than the group one. Also, don't reuse a PhotoPass card from a previous trip that you have already registered.

Also -- an important tip -- once you get your PhotoPass card, record the number on it by writing it down or taking a digital photo of it. Also, write your name on it with a black sharpie. This prevents the photographer from accidentally mixing cards up -- and if it should happen or if you lose the card you have the number saved!

I'm just wondering about this part:

Wouldn't that open up the 30-day window given to edit and order the CD, meaning way less time for those of us who are returning later? If this is true, it would be nice to have 30 days for everyone . . . it just means the earlier people waiting longer to see their pictures.

Any thoughts?

Good question. The 30 day countdown starts ticking individually for each card the day it is added to the account (it doesn't matter when the account itself is created). Disney says 30 days but, in practice, it is at least 45 days before the photos are no longer available. Maybe what we should do is wait until the first person (Hailey's_mom) returns from their trip after May 11th and set up the account then. Let's say she adds her first card on May 12th -- that would give us until June 12th (if not longer) to have everyone do their edits and order the CD before the first card registered expires. Is that enough time for the folks who are returning later? I think we return last and it should be plenty of time for us.

On another note, someone confirmed on my other thread (http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1442546) that ordering the CD online allows for up to a maximum of 16 cards. Perhaps we could agree that everyone in our swap can have up to 2 cards -- this would make it a bit more flexible in case people need to split up and such.

Cruiser, I just reread your post and noticed you said you'd like to have the full 30 days to edit your pictures. Sorry I was just getting so excited, I didn't mean to tell you how to run your swap -- you're the host, so if you want to set it up so that everyone has at least 30 days than please do so. We can surely wait a little longer! Truth be told, we always have a laptop with Internet in our room and like to look at our photos at night after we return from the parks so I was hoping that we could get the login to the account so that we could view add our card and view photos while still on the trip.

But we're flexible! And we can wait a bit longer to view our photos if it means only paying 1/5th of the cost of a PhotoPass CD.

BTW - this is the husband half of dsneygirl here!
