May or June 2014? What to expect?

My husband and I are planning a return trip to Disney in 2014. We brought our son last Summer (when he had just turned two). He loved it then and we know he would love it so much more next year (as would his baby brother!).

I used to work in the school system, so the only time we've ever been able to go was in the Summer. I am now at home with my boys, so we can be a bit more flexible with when we visit, although my husband's job does have some restrictions with when he can get time off.

We are looking at either the week of May 11 next year or June 22. I know that May will probably be better with regards to crowds so we are leaning towards that, but what can I expect as far as wait times, weather, dining reservations, etc? I've only been to Disney World in the Summer (usually July) so I'm just not sure what to expect. Will May be more manageable with a three year old and one year old? Any advice/guidance is appreciated!!! Thank you!

Just did May 2013, we did May 5 - 17, it was FRICKEN AWESOME. Super low crowds, great weather (we had 20 mins of rain over the 2 weeks), basically it was perfect WDWing.

We have already booked vacation for May 2014 2-16 :)

I didn't realize I should have already booked for may 2014? What about discounts or pins possibly coming in the next few months? Do the rooms at the hotels actually fill up this early? Love POP but my try a suite at All star music? Anyone try these?
Thanks!

May is wonderful, specifically early May. Park hours may be shorter, but crowds are light and weather can be (no guarantees! ;) ) delightful. June is good, too, but would work best in the first 10 days or so. Once schools are closed, it gets very busy fast.

No no don't worry about it Xray, we have booked vacations with work, but haven't booked our reservation with Disney yet.

Last year our discount was released on January 3rd for dates through mid-late may ... I booked a ressies in November I think, then booked another after changing resorts, then booked ANOTHER after the Discount was released, it was all kind of funny.

But no, no need to book actual Disney reservations for May 2014 already :)

Of course, it is nice to have it booked, even as a place holder, or something to pay down while waiting for the discount to come :)

Great! So happy to hear that May is more than manageable!

It's certainly not necessary to book so far in advance; however, we rented points last Summer and are considering doing the same in 2014. With renting points, I believe it is better to book earlier rather than later. So we are just trying to figure things out so that when it is time to book, we are good to go!

Thanks for the info everybody!
