May No Buy!

Updated my post on page one. Doing pretty well reducing the random spending here and there. Skipped any "recreational" spending at yard sales this past Saturday because it was raining. But DD comes home from school this week, so I anticipate my "no-buy" days will be greatly reduced! She will probably need some work clothes for her summer internships, plus a few things for the apartment and some groceries. And we have a Mother/Daughter road trip planned for while she is home, but we will try to keep this a budget trip which means packing up a cooler and such.

DS wanted to hit the local "snack shack" on opening day for a burger and I decided if he wanted that kind of splurgfe he could pay for it himself, so he did! He spent about $12 on a burger, onion rings, and a soda (all big treats for this household). I went with him and brought along a turkey sandwich and a mason jar of lemonade! We sat together and talked and enjoyed the sun, but I spent nothing! He was going to get an ice cream as well, but was too full. I reminded him that there was a bit of ice cream at home in the freezer, and he never even bothered to eat it!

I anticipate just one more good "no buy" day here (tomorrow) before I pick up DD and the budget goes out the window! It was good while it lasted!..........P

Yay on your son buying his snack!! $12 each week would really hurt your budget. I would also bring my own foods and my kids would be so embarrassed but I don't listen to them.

Not going to make it...but technically the expenditures from the 21st and 22nd don't really count. It was just a fun way for me to introduce the fact that I am have two trips on the horizon. The cruise happens on July 3rd and is a definite. The December Disney trip could still be cancelled (if we can't get enough dough together) but I'm confident we'll do fine!

Hello. I'm reading about May to get myself ready for June...we are about 6 weeks out and if I want my new sneakers July 1st and a nice d.i.y. welcome box for my little boy....I cannot spend in June like I have this week.
I hit two yard sales, did our once-a-month grocery load up and then some. Target, twice. Michael's, also twice. Kohl's and Wal-mart too. I was really bad.

I'm glad it is still May.
I'm so bad. I was heading home from the dentist and decided I wanted a milkshake, since I couldn't really move my lips from being numb...and my car steered from the fast food place into G'will parking lot.

15 buckaroos later, I still have no shorts for me for our trip...I did find a very small Tink purse to match my earlier found Tink wallet though. and a basket of assorted things I seemed to think i needed.

I'm thinking maybe I should start with an every other day no buy goal instead of a big number like 20.
thoughts?

Hi There!

I would love to try this for June but it will be my first try ever. I just feel that I spend little amounts here and there daily and boy do they add up. How many no buy days of the month is the more realistic target? Do you try to have only one or two buy days in a week? Just wondering how it works.

Thanks!

Never mind Disers...I looked up past posts and got my answers. I am in for June ;) if there is one.
