May - New Celebration?

What is this new celebration that I keep hearing about? We are going to Disney the first week of May - actually we are going to Disney on May 5th and I read it was going to be quite crowded. Does anyone know exactly what will be going on at Disney on May 5th? Thanks so much.

Starting May 5th, all the Disney parks around the world are celebrating DL 50th birthday.

Each park is adding new rides and shows from the other parks.

The 50th celebration will be going on from May 5, 2005 to around Oct, 2006 (18 months).

I am purposely going back after my Feb trip to be part of the celebration MAy 24-May 30.

There will be multiple special events and press events on May 5 -- parts of different parks may be closed off to "day guests" that day for photo opps, broadcasts, etc. This will likely not continue on much past May 5, but May 5-7 will probably be quite a bit busier than normal.
