Hello all,

The Shuttle launch was indeed glorious. Susan and I were up at 1:30 am so we could get ready for the space flight honoree bus that departed at 2:30 am. The weather was perfect. What made the launch even more cool was the International Space Station passed over KSC 17 minutes before the Shuttle launch and the ISS was visible for about 3 minutes. The atmosphere was so clear we could see the Shuttle with the naked eye after launch almost all the way to the horizon.

Nap time for me. :)

Hi all-
I am just curious how many other military families are coming aboard this cruise? Active, Reserve, Retired, etc?

My husband is active duty Army National Guard out of Reading, MA. He has been in for 13 years and the reason we decided to go on this trip (besides the great discount) is because he is being deployed to Afghanistan after the Winter holidays. Plus he has been in or will be in training on and off for about 6 months this year.

We are hoping for a awesome family trip that will help us get through the times when he is away

I'm active duty Army, have been for 14 almost 15 years. Taking this trip also for the huge discount they offered in March. We live in Belgium right now, which makes it even easier for us to take than if we lived in states.

Welcome! This is our first cruise also.

I'll be in my 16th week of pregnacy as of the sail date, and I have to fill out the medical information form.
Is necesary my physician's signature on this form? :confused3
Is there any email address to send it?
Anyone in the same status?
Thank you
Pilar

On Carnival Cruise line the form was not required. I was in my 23rd week of pregnancy and was "noticeably" 23 weeks pregnant so I had my doctor note that I would be in my 23rd week at the time of sailing just on a piece of his letterhead.

While I was waiting to board the ship a Carnival staff beelined over to me and asked if I was pregnant and how far along. I told her 23 weeks and that I had the letter from my doctor. She looked over the letter and then wished me a happy voyage. I was glad I had the letter. I do not believe she would have denied me access as long as I said I was under the 24 weeks.

My dh and I will be sailing alone this trip. Is anyone interested in dining with us? We have late seating. I know DCL will group us with another group of adults but thought it might be fun to request a group of disers. :goodvibes

If you're interested send me a PM with your room # and names and I will contact DCL and have them note the request on our reservations.

Has anyone ever done this before on a DCL cruise? I'm assuming DCL will try to accomodate the request.:confused3

Yes, I've done it several times. In fact a group of us have already linked our reservations. Just call Disney (or have your TA do it) and give them names and reservation numbers. I'm sure there are some more folks on the list who would like to link with you.

Has anyone ever used one of the international cell phone rental companies? If so, which companies offer the best rates for the areas that we will be traveling to, and which ones offer a U.S. phone number?

Also I just checked and DCL has opened up cat 8 & 9 again so maybe the cruise isn't as full as we thought... maybe some of the people who didn't get the higher upgrades might get upgraded at the port... just a thought. ;)

That's good to know! I really didn't think our cruise was full, though. I pretty much thought they just wanted to freeze the inventory of cabins until they got all the Guarantees & Upgrades done. All you need is for someone to sell a cabin that someone else just got upgraded to! Since they had to do *SO* many upgrades, it was probably just easier not to sell any for a period of time until the upgrade folks were done... That's my theory. :cheer2:

I just heard back from disney! Wine tasting is a go. They will plan it for one of the at seas days but no exact day or time yet. We will need at least 25 people confirmed and they can bill this to your stateroom account (KTTW). The cost is $15. I will need exact names and reservation numbers to proceed. I would prefer if people could PM me since it is difficult to keep a running list off the boards. Here is a list of who has expressed interest.

Hi Felicia

We'll hook up with you for dinner (just me and DH). I'll PM the info from home (you'll need our reservation no. to do the linking).

I had better warn you, we fully intend on being exceptionally silly. Last year our table built a pirate ship out of our table and a high chair. And we asked for the kids colouring sheets every night. It was great fun!

Jane

This has got me thinking - i wonder if we can link the two sets of groups - so Jeff and the single ladies :rotfl: have a big group linked for dining. Wonder if you can then link their group to our group to get us all in the same dining rotation - or would DCL worry we were going to be "too crazy"

Let's hope so!! Wouldn't mind a room with porthole...i have an amazing ability to sleep so need all the help i can get to wake up:rotfl:

LOL:rotfl2: My wife has the same amazing ability!!! Me on the other hand... I have that internal clock that goes off right around sunrise... that goes over real well as you can imagine LOL!:lmao:

Im just the Dermatologist here and Obstetrics is about is far from what I do as anything but heres the skinny. Any travel away from your physicians in the third trimester is frowned upon in case of an unexpected event. Imagine being in a foriegn country (example... Tunis) where health care may be hit or miss. It may not be safe to transport in case of a complication and if you were to deliever early, you would be dependant on the neonatal care of whatever country we happen to be in at that time. Flying in pressurized cabins with lap belts etc may be problematic with turbulence so airlines aren't excited as well. Most of the travel restrictions are actually more for liability to the cruiselines and airlines but the timeline they give should probably be adhered to.
My suggestion is to speak with your OBGYN. If you have had any complications or are considered a high risk pregnancy, then they may have higher no travel restrictions. Best to be safe but like I said, Im only one step above the clinique counter so thats my two cents.

Thank you for your comment. :thumbsup2
I'll keep it in mind next time I visit my physician. Fortunately I don't have complications, but i like to be ready for any eventuality.

Thank you Felicia for your experience. I will be 16 weeks pregnant as of the sail date, and although right now is not noticeably, I don't know how I will look like in 5 weeks...
