Hello
so we are planning on a trip either May 28th to June 2nd 2018 Or in the middle / end of June

Wonder what weather is typically like this time of year? We plan on staying at the courtyard on harbour with the awesome water park so we can go back and swim if its to hot !

What are crowds typically like?
Lots of rides down for refurbishments?

Will i need to make sure to make reservations in advance for dinning?

we will be travelling hubby and i and our 5 kids who will be 1,2,5,7,9 at time of travel !

We always go to DLR at the end of May, first of June. We have rarely encountered refurbishments. Weather is warm during the day but cools down in the evening. The parks are busy but manageable. We always make dining reservations so we do not waste time waiting to eat. Have a great time.

perfect !. we have done Disneyland in dec, march, october. have not done may yet. looking forward to the warm weather !!

i will definitely book a reservation or two for dinner.

We go in May a lot because it's my DD's birthday month and we think the weather is perfect. Don't count on there being no refurbishments though, Indy was down for a long time in May this year :(

I'm also planning a trip for next June. Some friends are traveling from Europe, so I need to lock down dates early.

May 28 is Memorial Day, so there will be holiday crowds. That is also the usual kickoff for Summer.
After June 7, SoCal Select APs are blocked for the Summer.

June is a good time to visit for several reasons:
  • Summer schedules, long hours and fireworks and fantasmic every night
  • Lower crowds than July and August
  • Lower temperatures than July and August
  • few refurbishments
You should make advance reservations for table service restaurants. Those can be made 60 days in advance, but I seldom book that early.

Very good to know. I was not aware that was a long weekend as our long weekend is the one before (canada)

I typically go to Disneyland the last week of May/Early June. We find the closer it gets to June the busier it gets. We have always found that most rides and attractions are once again open as Disney typically tries to get most refurbs done before the summer season starts.

The weather is perfect in May/June. In the morning its a little over cast but that's what they call "May Gray" or "June Gloom" but it typically burns off before noon and gets quite warm. Warm enough that you will want to make use of the pool at your hotel. In the evenings you may want a light jacket but I rarely ever use one. Have a great time.

Be aware of any special ticket offers for Southern California residents. This year the offer expired on May 25th, and DL reached capacity that day (a weekday!). Disney may or may not offer something similar next year, but keep looking for updates on this board to see if an offer appears and if it will affect your dates.

Good to know about the special Southern California tickets. I guess Disney is trying to make up for the lack there of people visiting the parks such as Canadians who have to pay the horrendous exchange rate. Any idea what the special So Cal ticket was called?

We looked at that time period too and when I tried to book the hotel that I think you are talking about it was booked for the dates I originally wanted which were in early June. We had no trouble at that hotel getting rooms mid May. You might call quickly if you haven't already. Good Luck!

At this point, you can make dining reservation either online or via the phone, 60-days in advance. If you go online right on the 60-day mark and something is unavailable, it usually means they haven't yet loaded it into the system, so keep checking back and it should show up within a few days. Dining reservations usually aren't that hard to come by, but it's still recommended that you make reservations if you know you want to eat somewhere specific or at a specific time. That being said, you can often get fairly prime dining reservations close to the date of interest (including day of) except for special event dining (those tend to book up first, but still not on the first day, unless you're looking at one of those "one-day only" events).
