Hi everyone!

I'm new here--been lurking for several weeks----and first off I just want to say thank you for the wealth of information, as well as the variety of opinions. I especially appreciate the comments from some of the posters who might not have had the best time...it helps me to keep my expectations realistic.

I have booked the May '06 Western (Woohooo!). From what I understand May seems to be a very good month for sailing, and I chose it in part because of some of the positive experiences I've read about on the DIS! (I was looking into July/August, but I am originally from Florida, and after I escaped (LOL) I promised myself that I would never go back during the summer months--- I don't do humidity well!) (May is "bad enough!")

I realize that the seas/weather are always unpredictable, however I was wondering if any of you who have sailed in May have ever not had warm weather or made it into a port because of high seas, etc?

My only other cruise experience was a 4 day Mexican cruise (Carnival) out of Los Angeles in February 2002, and it was cold, of course, and we didn't do any water related activities. (And didn't have a great time!) So I was really counting on the snorkeling (and warm carribean water) to keep us happy this time. (As well as the whole Disney Stuff for the kids!) (Boy I use a lot of parenthesis!) (And exclamation points!)

OK, sorry for being so long and rambling....my question again....has anyone NOT made their ports in May?

TIA!

We cruised in May '04, the only complaint was the wind the first 2 days. It was near-gale force winds across the deck, which made the pools pretty chilly, didn't stop our kids!! The rest of the time the weather was awesome!!

Sneezy63 - which cruise did you book? We're booked on the May 27, 2006, special Western cruise with 2 stops at CC. Are you by any chance on that one? Just curious.

I have been twice in April. We had 1 rough night each time. But neither of us got sick and we didn't take any meds.

The weather has been wonderful both times. So I would guess that May would only be better.

Tigger--nope...we're going May 6th. I haven't seen anyone else mention that date, yet!

DrC & littlemuffin---thanks for the replies...ok, so windy and a little rough, so far, but nothing to make you not be able to dock the ship. Anyone else? (keeping my fingers crossed for positive news!)

sneezy63- are you sure its not may 7th- that is the 7 day western cruise- this is the one i am going on and we have a great group of disers on the meets board- if this is the cruise you are going on please come on over and introduce yourself :flower1:

We went mid may 2002 and the weather was beautiful. It did rain one night but that just cleared the air for the next morning. No rough seas and not too windy at all. You probably won't care if you have a bit of bad weather, you'll be on the magic!!! Enjoy

Our first Wonder cruise was in May, CC was great snorkeling/swimming in the water weather during the same first week or so of May as your Magic Western in '06, and hopefully for you by then the repairs to the island should be just memories--enjoy!!

We went the first week of May '04.

The weather was absolutely perfect, and the seas were great.

The ONLY problem that we had was the water temperature at CC...fuh-REEEEZING!!

I don't think that was normal, because I heard several people mention it at dinner, and everyone seemed to think that the water was unseasonably cold.

I wish I were going this year, but no....sigh....not till May 2006.

Thanks for the input, everyone...it looks like May will be perfect (I hope!)

May was great for us. We went May 11, 2002 on the first Western cruise. The only time I noticed the weather at all was in Cozumel, where I really felt the heat. That was at high noon, on the blacktop, just after getting off a LITTLE fishing boat where I got sick. I would say that Cozumel was probably in the high 80s that day, but for a beach day, it was perfect!

We went in May of 2002 and May 8th 2004 and we loved both times..we are booked for April 30th this year. We made all our ports and the water at CC was warm and beautiful both times. You will love it in May!!

The weather in May is great. We are on the 26th Wonder cruise again. The only thing is that in my opinion, the water at CC is a bit chilly.
