May I ask question?

I'm from 'over the pond' but am watching the NASN broadcasts of the World Series just now.
I'm sure this is probably a silly question but tonight whilst watching game 3, I noticed lots of spectators ( I think they were Astros fans) wearing their baseball caps inside out and I'm afraid my curiosity has got the better of me. Is this some sort of tradition or does it express some emotion (disgust, frustration etc)?

Please be tolerant with me. I have got to grips with the basic rules etc but this was bugging me a bit, especially as I don't recall seeing it before.

Cheerios! That's called a "rally cap" and done to encourage the team to victory. Too bad the Angels aren't in the series with the "Rally Monkey" cuz then you'd REALLY have some questions!!!!

Thanks for the prompt reply disnygirl. Now a second question! Is it specific to the Astros or is it a general thing?

I'm enjoying watching the games but all this late night viewing is playing havoc with my sleep patterns. What with the MLB and NHL plus football matches (soccer) to watch, I'll have to prop my eyelids open with matchsticks.

The rally cap has been demonstrated among all MLB teams. Some teams will wear them backwards, others will turn them inside out, while others will collapse the back into the hat and wear this on one side of the head(if you can visualize this). It's a unique sight for sure...

No, fans of every team do things like that to "rally" their team. They might turn their hats backwards, or put their shirts on inside out or like the hats you saw last night.
