May GOD be with YOU ALL

The only reason that you can voice your opinion without fear of bodily harm is that soldiers were willing to die for our country and the rights that it guarantees.

Too bad that people in Iraq don't enjoy the same freedoms.

As much as people may not like it, I feel sure that President Bush, as a Christian man himself, has spent much time in prayer with God. The Bible tells us that there is a time for peace and a time for war. God can not look upon evil and Saddam Hussien is evil (I know many wonder what evil is but if you can't see evil in this man then we have a problem). I believe with all my being that Bush is doing the right thing to rid the world of evil by going in and freeing the Iraqi people from this regime. And please don't think I am saying it is all about God... there are many reasons for us to be there. Our leadership has many reasons for being there, many we don't even know about.

What the HECK are you talking about!!

I didn't say I didn't stand behind our troops I said I hated the war and what Bush did. IF ya got a problem with that than to bad really I don't care.

BTW, you stated previously that my heart bleeds well really I thank GOD I have a heart than to have to walk around in an empty shell.

it bothers me to see people lose their lives over something that I think could have been prevented.

You are not the first person I have heard say this, so understand that what I am about to say is not a personal attack.

Alot of people say "This could have been prevented."

Yet, I have not heard ONE of any of them say HOW it could be prevented.

So, since you said it here, I am asking you: How could this war have been prevented? By leaving Saddam in power and ignoring him? I said it on another thread and I will say it here. The man and his regime DO NOT THINK like we do. To them, war is the only way and is an every day thing. Even against their own people. In their own country.

I just finished watching part of Frontline on PBS - a documentary about the Gulf War. After it was over, Stormin' Norman sat down with Saddam's generals to discuss the cease fire. When we left Iraq, the Iraqi people began their own uprising against Saddam and his regime. We encouraged them too! Saddam got nervous, so his generals were told to tell Norman whatever it took to keep us from starting firing again. They told us what we wanted to hear - where the mines were, where the prisoners were, etc. We thought we were getting good info, so when they asked if they could fly their helicopters, we said yes. Then they asked if they could fly armed helicopters; mistakenly, we said yes.

They flew them alright. They flew them and they used them to shoot AT THEIR OWN PEOPLE who were rising up against them. They ran them out of their homes and their cities and our military, who was left to patrol the air, were not allowed, per orders, to do anything about it. They fled to the Turkish and Kuwait borders. Saddam's regime captured these citizens, they tortured them, and they killed them and they filmed it while they were doing it. They certainly didn't take them somewhere to do this either. They did it right on the spot. They dropped chemical weapons on them, the hospitals are full of people who still suffer from that. Eventually, James Baker flew over to see what was happening, and he called the President from the plane and told him these people need help. What did we do?

Did we go help them fight to get their country back? No. We flew over their encampments on the border and dropped them food.

Big whoop. These people were interviewed and they cried and cried. They could see OUR military jets watching as the helicopters bombed and shot these innocent citizens and they could NOT understand why we did nothing to help. Since that time, we have had meeting after meeting, convention after convention, document after document.

These people are still dying and they are still suffering and they still cry for our help.

So, tell me, if we don't destroy Saddam, as we did Hitler, then what SHOULD WE BE DOING to prevent these atrocities to these people?

Ok, I agree with many on this post. I agree that these kids deserve our respect and our loyalty. I agree that everything this country has strived for has been won through lousey wars, even our indpendance. I agree that not everyone will like our President and his choices, and you should all thank your lucky stars you are in a country you can disagree with him. You do not know how lucky you are. Saddam is an evil man who cares not an iota of any human life, and he needs to be removed.

All that being said...This is a Disney board. We all come here to get away from everyday life. It is a place for us to let down our hair and enjoy eachothers company. Look around at the people you see here. There are lots of people with loved ones over there. PLEASE respect their sacrifice when you are typing away at the key boards. Do NOT tell them how you think they feel, do not tell them how they should feel. The sacrifice they are making is not something they are holding over us.

I for one am getting pretty tired of seeing friends argue over this war. We are in the war, and nothing anyone says is going to change it. You are stuck with the President until election time, then you can ALL get up and go to the voting booths and vote him out.

Just please stop!!! People are going to die, for the freedoms of the Iraqi people and for our freedom and conitnued safety. Isn't that enough?

Was that really necessary?? I think maybe you need to relax a little. You surely presume to know a lot about me. Truthfully, you don't know SQUAT.

Jipsy I see your point. Still I hate this war and I hate the fact that people have to die because of it.

when people take pot shots at eachother...the thread is closed.
