My honeymoon week 2 is the 24th to the 31st. Rather than fork down even more money, I was thinking I should just use the entire enchilada to buy DVC. But if I bought tomorrow, I might not even beat the 7 month booking window, right?

May is traditionally a pretty slow time with DVC. I don't think you'll have any trouble making a reservation, even within the 7-month booking window.

Disney World was pretty busy last may, and I went the 4th through the 11th. Wouldn't DVC be the same?:confused3

DVC busy times do not necessarily coincide with the regular resort busy times and May overall is lower crowds at Disneyworld anyway, compared to other times of the year.

We did almost the same thing this past May. In January 2008 we booked a weeklong stay May 16-23 in a 2BR at Boardwalk Villas. We booked retail through AAA. My co-worker went to Disneyland in early April and came back seriously considering DVC and started selling me on it too. We did the math and realized that at the price we were paying for our retail vacation in a 2BR villa we would only need to make 2.8 additional trips in the same type of accomodations for our DVC costs to paid off. We bought through the developer to get the extra incentive points they were offering at the time and so that they could help us with the timing of the transaction. We signed papers in mid-April and that weekend booked the same week (which was at this point only one month out) at our new home resort of SSR. We had no problem getting the room at SSR on that type of notice especially with the help of the guides who were working on our purchase. We initially tried to get BWV since that was our original booking but we could not get it although they tried really hard. We had a great trip and were so glad that we did not spend all that money without having a DVC ownership to show for it.

If you are really interested call a guide and tell them what you need, they just may work something out for you.

Thanks, that's what we're beginning to think too!
