May Bookings. Seeing Choices being Limited

It would appear to me, that looking to book a room at a Resort or DVC, choices are limited, for second week of May. Over the last 25 years, I have never experienced this. Just curious if anyone else, is seeing this as well. We tried to rent a Studio for the Riviera on 11/4 for our May 9 - 16 stay. Through a on line rental place, tried a few, and could not book it. We settle on staying at Kidani Village. My grandsons first trip we stayed their. I'm okay with that But we could not book the entire trip. So, I am looking at staying our first 3 nights elsewhere. Only certain types of rooms are available, at resorts. I know I can book at OKW & SSR, at just about anytime. I'm not too concerned. But, trying to book those first 3 nights at the Poly DVC. our first night was not available.

Other than the Flower & Garden Event going on. It just seems strange, the lack of room choices. Not to mention, some of the soaring prices. I would like to know if anyone else is experiencing this. In so far as the DVC Rooms. I think that members are booking an open time slot, just to walk it back, for the DVC they really want. But that only answers, part of what I am seeing.

Gosh, it must just be for DVC. The only resorts showing booked for the first two weeks of May are All Stars and that's due to a cheer competition. Everything else is open.

Hopefully someone with DVC experience can chime in!

Owners are able to book reservations at their home resort 11 months out, so since June of last year for May 2020. By early November even non-home resort owners were able to book for May for about a month. It doesn't surprise me at all that you are finding DVC availability very limited.

More and more owners are booking at 11 months leaving less inventory for exchanges at 7 months. DVC is busy at the moment.

Prices are down to supply and demand

November is a it late to be booking May through DVC

One bedroom villas are wide open during the second week of May. You must be looking for the cheapest points.
