This is my first trip report, so bare with me.

CAST Me 38, DH 36, DD 12 & DD 10

Day 1 (May 5th)

We left for DIA (Denver International Airport) at 5:45am for our 8:30am flight (DH likes to be there early  ) We had a neighbor that works at the airport drop us off, so we didn't need to deal with parking. We checked in at curbside and headed directly to the gate. We flew TED (part of United Airlines) for the first time. Our seats were upfront, which is the Economy Plus and VERY spacious. Even though our flight was 3 1/2 hours, it went by pretty quick and was uneventful (thank goodness). We arrived into Orlando around 2:00pm Eastern time and we were all very excited. We got our bags quickly and headed to get our rental car. As DH was getting the car, it started pouring rain. I haven't seen it come down like that in a long time. We were able to navigate out of the airport and onto 528 to head to Cocoa Beach.

We had a reservation at the Comfort Inn @ Cocoa Beach. This hotel was a little older and it looks like they are doing some renovating, but I really loved it. We were on the 5th floor and at first I was disappointed that we had a pool side view. When you walked in, we had a sitting area with a couch, tv, desk and small kitchen area. We had 2 Queen size beds in the next room with a balcony and a great view of the ocean. Now I was very excited about this because this was my first view of the Atlantic (I know... I'm so easily amused  ). We dropped our bags off and headed down the street to a barbecue restaurant (can't remember the name right now) Food was great, but wasn't use to the A/C being blasted :cold:

It was still raining off and on, so no pool the first day for the kids. We hit a souvenir store and then Ron Jon's. I didn't realize how HUGE that place was. Picked up a couple of tshirt and then headed back to the hotel.

Day 2 (May 6th)

We were able to sleep in a bit and then went across the street to IHOP for breakfast. The girls wanted to go to the beach, so we drove down to the Cocoa Beach pier so they could play in the water. Now it was cloudy and windy and maybe in the 60's and I was FREEZIN' :cold: I was so bummed that the weather in Denver was nicer than Florida :confused3 The kids played in the water for awhile and then we walked to the pier to have lunch and buy souvenirs (I collect shot glasses & magnets). We headed back to the hotel, but made our liquor store run first. After playing in the pool for awhile, we decided we wanted something quick for dinner, so we went over to KFC and picked up chicken to bring back  The rest of the evening we kicked back and watched tv and headed to bed pretty early to be rested for our upcoming adventure :cool1:

To be continued........................................
