Thankyou for answering and bless you for loving our special needs children. Our daughter,Kerry, is the love of our lives. This will be her second cruise. We went a few years ago on the Disney Wonder to Nassau and the wonderful Castaway Cay. She's been to Disneyworld 7 times and we'll be going again this year either before or after the cruise. Disney treats her like the princess she deserves to be treated like so it's my favorite vacation destination. Isn't it miraculous to see their little eyes light up? They don't ask for much--just lots of love-- and my heart dances everytime someone is kind to her. Thankyou for caring .Please give my love to your angel. I look forward to meeting you as well. They are definitely a blessing! I know exactly what you mean about your heart dancing whenver someone is kind to her, i am the same way with my daughter. How old is your daughter? This will be (both) my daughters 3rd disney cruise. my oldest wants to go to WDW so bad...but its never worked out for her to go. I hope to get her there soon!!!

I'm taking my daughter on this cruise for her 16th birthday present. Since it will be just the two of us, I'm hoping we'll find someone on the boards that she'll be able to occasionally hang out with (hey, what 15 year old wants to be with mom 24/7?)

We're first time cruisers and we're booked in room#8563.

Hi and welcome!!! Wow! What a great birthday present!!! We are a family of four, myself, my dh and my two daughters who will be 8 and 14 at the time of sailing. Looking forward to getting to know you and your daughter!!

Thanks! I'm getting pretty excited and it's fun to learn about all the neat things to look forward to onboard.

When my oldest daughter turned 16 (she's now 18) I tried to surprise her with a mom/daughter trip to WDW. She figured things out a couple of weeks ahead of time, but my other two kids were in the dark. When they learned about the trip I told them both that when they turned 16, they could each have a similar trip. Well, now DD#2 will be turning 16 and I asked her where she wanted to go. "Not Disneyworld" she said

"I want to go someplace beachy" she said. So, I thought a cruise might just be the answer. She keeps seeing commercials on TV for Atlantis in the Bahamas, but I need to get a Disney fix and I know this will do it for me.

BTW, we're a family of 5 - Dave 53, me 46, Kate 18, Dottie 15, Davy 10

I teach preschool (3 & 4 year olds), so right now, this is summer vacation for me, too!

I have learned that sometimes kids are smarter than we give them credit for!! it doesn't take a lot of clues for them to figure something out. Our daughters will both be able to hang out in the Vibe Teens club on the dream. I set my oldest dd up on facebook, and there is another girl that will be in there with them that has "friended" her on facebook. I thought it might be nice if they had someone they would sorta know to hang out with onboard. If your daughter has a facebook and would like to add her , just let me know. My oldest is sorta weary about meeting new people because she is mildly autistic and developmentally delayed. Its hard to tell there is an "issue" at first, mainly in social settings, but we have been working with her and she is doing great!!!

Hi everyone...now that we have had a few more to join up with us on our cruise meet, I thought I would "throw this out" to see what you all thought. Before I had mentioned the possibility of a FE exchange. I would be willing to head that up and be responsible for keeping track of the info for it if you all are interested in doing so. I've never headed one up, but have participated in one and will do the best I can. Just let me know what you think!!

She has no idea about time so when we go anywhere we have to plan in secret and pack in secret because everything to her is right now. We will do that again in May and tell her the morning we leave that we are all going to WDW and the excitement in her face is worth all the plans in secret. She loves water slides and I just wish there were someway I could get her up into the aquaduct to slide with me but I don't think she could manage all the stairs with so many eager children behind her. She's very slow moving because of her disabilities but can walk with help. Looking forward to our holiday. Thanks for caring Sally

Please show your 16 year old some of the trip advisors about Atlantis. The place is becoming very outdated and she might be more willing to stick with Disney after reading them. My oldest daughter gave us a hard time with Disney years ago and did her best to ruin the trip (missing her "friends" and feeling "too old" to travel with her parents but I think in later years she began to realize she might have missed something if we hadn't dragged her along. Best of luck to you. I'm so glad the teens are long gone and believe me it does get better.

I will see what i can find on it, but there might be some way that they could accomidate Kerry and make it a possibility for her to ride on the aquaduct. I know with my daughters issues, i have emailed them and they have made every way possible that they could to help out. I know what you mean about kerry being happy, i don't know what it is, but my Cassie is the same way, she always has a kind word for/about everyone and wants to be everyones friend. She is in special education at school and i love going into her classroom, they are all always happy to see you and have lots of hugs for you. It is sorta hard with Cassie because her disabilities are not quite "visible" . Even sometimes talking to her you wouldn't think there is issues at all. She has been diagnosed with mild autism and mild mental retardation and has some sensory issues. I am so glad that she is so positive about others, but it makes me weary to, because i know there are those out there that will take advantage of that. ok i'll quit spilling my guts here, just refreshing to have someone who knows what its like to be the parent of one of these special kids!

If you will look at the very bottom of the disney cruise line website, there is a "contact us" link that you can click on and it gives you a form to fill out. that is what i always used to send emails to them. I will continue to look up info on accesibility to the aquaduck for you

Anybody with any ideas on what else I could add please advise. Pretty soon we'll be under 10 months. Don't know how I could get any more excited!!!!!

I know what you mean! I can't wait!! Hopefully if you send an email they will be quick to respond, and respond with good news!! I searched last night and couldn't find much of anything about handicap accesibility to the aquaduck. I will keep looking though.

HI I am Dawn 38 I'll be 39 at time of DCL and have two DD's one 3 years old and one 13 years old at time of DCL they are going to be 4 years old and Tori is going to be 14 years old by one day lol this two is for her b-day My mom and dad are also on the DCL we are all waitting for time to go FAST...lol My DH is NOT going
